I always say Look up! That way the water doesn't drain on her face. Sometimes I had to trick her and say I see the Itsy Bitsy Spider up there...do u see it, look up there.

She used to scream and cry but lately she's been much better about it. I usually have to dry her face off with a towel afterwards.

Nope, never. We've done swim lessons weekly since they were each 2 months old. Part of swim is for them to learn to hold their breath when we say, "1, 2, 3, Under!" So in the tub we just say that and they are fine with it.

@Ra: exact same thing here. I've just been scrubbing his hair with a soapy washcloth, then a clean washcloth like 5 times. I can't even get his hair wet to get the shampoo on. But he'll beg to run through a sprinkler.

she has gone thru periods of hating it and periods of just tolerating it. right now, she knows that she has to tilt her head way back so it doesn't get into her eyes, but still whines a bit while its happening. sometimes she dumps a little water on her face on purpose though, and she says "i did it!"

Yes! He freaks the eff out if *any* water touches his face. Like even a drop. He will cry, try to climb out of the tub, and make a huge spectacle. We have to use a washcloth to rinse the front to make it a bit less painful.

Meanwhile, he will splash, turn the shower on, and stick his face into the water without a second thought. Kids are weird.

Our kids have never liked the rinsing process! But they've gotten so, so much better at letting us rinse out their hair... it used to be a real battle, but now it goes much more smoothly. Unless shampoo gets in their eyes, and then all bets are off! Thankfully that hasn't happened in months...
