DD loves eating out at restaurants on vacation because she gets to pick what to eat; at home, I make the meal decisions. :)

She also usually sleeps with DH in the hotel room, and then has a hard time adjusting back to her own bed when we get back.

Yes absolutely. When we vacation it is often with some grandparents who spoil them like crazy. Things like carrying them where ever they want to go instead of making them walk or letting them sit on their laps during a meal (giant pet peeve of mine). My MIL doesn't listen to a darn thing I say and let's them do whatever they want. Usually the day after we return home I just batten down and know that it will be a day of battles and fits. I usually plan on staying at home so we have a full day of retraining the expected behaviors for home. I just tell them we were on vacation and it's a special time but that it's time to go back to normal at home rules. It works but that first day is a tough one.

Yes, for sure he picks up bad habits. We'll often do anything to keep him quiet/sitting in one place for an extended period of time and it's hard to get him out of those habits when we get home.

I think LO's too young to pick up bad habits.
She didn't sleep as much while we were in CA (too much stimulation and excitement), but her schedule went back to normal as soon as we got back home.

We have a friend over who has older boys, and he just told us that his potty trained son had to be re-potty trained after they came back from Hong Kong. Their pediatrician said it's common for kids to regress after long international trips... maybe something to do with the time difference, etc.

Charlie has picked up sooo many! It's like he senses that we are weak when we're on a plane and need him to be quiet.

It's gonna be brutal retraining him when we get back.

Do your kids pick up bad habits when they travel? If so, how do you manage it?
