They share and it works pretty well! The only time it gets dicey is when my 4 yo doesn't want to go to bed, or wants to get out, or starts crying. My 2 yo doesn't wake up her brother but he wakes her up! We usually have to threaten consequences unless he hushes up. The worst that happened was once they were both screaming their heads off and I just couldn't take it so I let them both scream until they fell asleep, which took about 10 minutes.

Like @twoofeverything: our twins share and have since day 1. I do think it's different since they've always shared and are used to each other, but they generally don't wake each other up unless there are other issues (already not sleeping well from illness, teething, etc). White noise is huge for us! I would get them used to sleeping with white noise now. If they are used to silence I don't think it could possibly work.

Our kids are right next to each other but don't share. We are thinking whenever we have another that someone will be sharing but not sure how we would do that. The kids now are on very similar schedules so it could work if DD would stop her random 5am wake ups!

@edelweiss: DS was still getting up once a night to nurse when we started them in the room together. However DD sleeps very deeply so she never stirred when he woke. In the beginning their bedtimes were staggered with DD going to bed about half an hour after DS. DS too is a pretty deep sleeper so we never had much problem with them waking each other at night.

They each have their own room next to each other. The plan is for them to share a room in the future. I'm not quite ready since I still breastfeed LO2, and his sleep is still unpredictable.

That's the eventual plan. dD2 doesn't always sleep through though, so for now she's in an alcove off of our room separated from DD1's room with a glass French door, which is usually open. It doesn't do much for soundproofing, I am just leaving her there for now bc it's closer to our bed.

Yep, our twins share a room for overnight sleep. The noisemaker and deeper nighttime sleep make it totally doable. They do separate at naps, though!
I think a big part of it is that they've room shared since Day One, and we even sleep trained with them together. Sometimes I think their crying is each other's white noise!

They need to be. We've been so busy/one child always sick I haven't made the transition. Hoping this next Monday I will though. They'll be 11m and 28m, boy and girl.

One of the reasons why I want another girl is because I want them to share a room. I think it'll be good for them. It would mean we'd have to take down a wall and make 2 rooms into 1. This is of course, IF she gets a sister :silly:

@purrpletulips: do you mind if i ask if DS was sleeping through the night at 6m when they started sharing? i've always wondered about the logistics of sharing a room when one of the children is a baby. also, did they have different bedtimes when they started sharing (i know you said they have the same bedtime now)? sorry to pepper you with questions, but if we have a second child i would love for them to share a room and just wondering how it works. thanks!

Not yet, but they will! When we have to transition K out of her crib for baby #3, I'm even going to have the girls share a bed. Should be interesting... I would love to hear more stories before it's my turn though :silly:

DD (4yo) and DS (2yo) have shared a room since DS was about 6m. We originally had them sharing a room because of space but have since moved to a house that would allow them to have their own rooms. DH initially wanted them together for familiarity and to help with the transition. Now I think he just doesn't want to move the furniture around. They go to bed each night at the same time and we don't have any problems but often for naptime I have to put DD in our bedroom so that they will actually take a nap.

My LO's rooms are right next to each other but they don't share. I cringe enough when one is screaming or crying when the other is sleeping, I couldn't imagine if they had to share a room. I'm sure we would make it work, I shared a room with my sister when I was a baby and she was 7 and that worked out as far as I know ;)

Do your LO's share a room? Does it work out ok?
