But that's just because my mom and step-dad are in FL for the winter and my dad is uncomfortable watching the 2 kids alone all day. If my mom and step-dad are in town, they usually do volunteer (and I typically take them up on it, as I prefer them to my ILs). Same goes for my father. My mother is off one day every week and has made several promises to take DS to a sports class, all of which did not happen and was never spoken of again. We're lucky that way. Our family is always willing to help out if they're available, but we need to contact them. Makes sense to me though - they don't know what our needs are. If my mom is in town (she splits her time between my city and our hometown) she is happy to watch lo. My dad works so that's not an option. We've asked mil before and sometimes she has and sometime she hasn't. His parents never offer to help. </p>
