The cats basically tolerate him. He was super excited towards them when he first came home then he realized they just run from him when he squeals. So now they will put up with him petting them but otherwise they pretty much ignore him.

Our older cat does (we got him when DD was 4 months old). I catch him sleeping in her bed all the time, and he patiently puts up with all her shit. He always comes and lays with her when she's not feeling well.

Our littler cat.... not so much. He runs.

Nope. Our blind old chihuahua does not share the love for DD. DD loves her, but she is admittedly really rough and scary at times with the chi.

One of our cats LOVES the baby. He always sits next to T while he's playing. He is incredibly patient when T grabs him and never bites or scratches him. He just waits for T to let go and then jumps away when it gets to be too much. The other cat hangs out around T more and more, but he still runs away before T can get close enough to pet him. He's generally a more skittish cat anyway.

Last night T, who is almost 11 months old, walked around with a peacock feather and played with the cats. They all loved it.

So far LO isn't mobile so ask me in another few months :) But our young girl dog is our LO's "dogmother." We got her as a puppy when we were having a hard time getting pregnant after a miscarriage, and her adoption date was my LMP for dating the pregnancy with LO! She follows us around like a shadow and loves to be near LO at all times. Our older dog has more of a protective and confused feel towards LO. When we first brought her home he thought that her crying meant she was in mortal danger so he would pace and howl - it was awful! Once he actually saw her cry while she was down on his level and realized it was just a noise she made and she was fine, he stopped. He still runs up to her room every time she starts making her wake up noises and gets agitated if she cries for too long. But I still think he is pretty puzzled about what she is exactly - this tiny, human appearing creature that can't move on her own or throw a ball for him! I think the moment they figure out how to play fetch then he will never leave her alone :) Our cats remain completely indifferent and will sometimes try and step on LO while she's in our laps. One of them seems to think that he needs to hear his voice echo in the hallway outside her door whenever she seems to be napping. Oye, I am definitely a dog person married to a cat person!

@Ocean girl: aw! and double aw for saint sophie :)

My LO looooooves our pets. Our pets do not love our LO. lol But I mean can you blame them? She's loud and moves unpredictably and tries to pull their fur and bite their ears. I think they've all been fabulously patient with her and trusting of us that we won't let her near them unsupervised, but no at this point they are not really team-baby.

Love? No. Tolerate? Very well. I kind of feel bad for our LO because he wants them to play with him so bad and they just ignore him. Or run away. Thankfully, my mom has a big goofy Newfoundland puppy that is his best friend and he gets to play with him once a week.

Our morkie definitely tolerates our son. Lol

When DS started crawling, the dog was terrified of him. He would stare at him like "wth is he doing" and would frequently run away. Now that DS is bigger, the dog will at least play a little with him and let him pet him. But it's definitely more tolerating than love, unfortunately.

Our cat definitely loves LO, in her own, special way. :silly: LO is the ONLY person that our cat has never clawed or bitten and the only person she pulls her nails in for when she swats at them. I’ve also caught the cat staring at LO and purring, and she doesn’t mind when LO accidentally steps on her tail or kicks her while we’re in bed or whatever (my husband or I would get hissed and swatted at with claws for the same accidents!).

Our cat is also very protective of LO – when LO was a baby and I would be holding her and we had guests over, our cat would station herself right in front of me and LO and “defend” us from everyone (hissing/glaring/swiping at people who came near us).

Haha "love" isn't the word they would use to describe their feelings towards her ;) Our Golden is endlessly patient and tolerates her sitting on her, "hugging" her, and "brushing" her tail.. The yorkies want nothing to do with her (unless she's eating a snack).
