This was pure negligence. The ENT clipped it too far back and exposed the muscle causing me to have to get three stitches under my tongue. The hospital staff clearly didn’t follow established protocols, or if they did, those rules/protocols need to be changed. What drives change? $$$$$$$$$. It doesn't matter if it was a minor procedure, or if the baby won't suffer any negative consequences. The doctor performed the procedure on a baby without the parents' knowledge or consent, so he and the hospital should be held accountable for that. I think these parents are out for a payday. Honestly, if there was no tongue tie, the procedure wouldn't have been performed. My (non-medical professional) opinion is that the baby probably had a minor tie. </p> <p>It's not like a circumcision or something. I agree that it's scary that the safeguards failed, but this seems really blown out of proportion. I'd be curious to see how much they're suing the hospital for.
