@BananaPancakes: Oh my goodness, I can only imagine how that would have amplified the fear! So scary and sad.... Makes one appreciate the good news even more! So glad all is well.

@Ree723: The scariness was amplified because a local 10 year old passed away from a brain tumor 2 weeks ago (so during our waiting period) and our GI specialist was the one who diagnosed him. She said she diagnoses at least 2 a year, which is terrifying.

Just posting an update, since we got the doctor to move up his appointment: DS's brain looks perfectly normal! So so relieved. Now we have an endoscopy scheduled, but the really scary stuff is at least off the table.

Thanks for the responses! I'm trying to think positively. The chances there was anyrhjbg abnormal is so small already, but it took us 2 months to get into the MRI, and now it's already been a week since, so we're ready to move on at this point.

Usually for more in depth studies, a visit is easier to explain things. I also like to do visits for both good and bad news, because otherwise you automatically know the news just based on if its a visit or not! I think the waiting 2 weeks is a good sign. Really bad news would need to be communicated sooner.

I have to get periodic brain MRIs. It is always really scary waiting for the results because I read into every little action / non-action.

My doctors have given me good results on the phone. However, I know it is hard, but try not to worry. In theory, if they discovered something super serious, they wouldn't want to wait 2 weeks. That is a long time, so that is positive! Also, maybe the results are really good, but there is just some complex verbal explanation that needs to come with it that they don't want to do on the phone. Also, I don't think physicians always realize how their actions / non-actions can be read by patients, and some of them are not the best communicators, so there could be no meaning whatsoever behind their behavior. I have found this to be the case many times! :goodluck:

I would take that to mean that the doc is busy more than anything else. If it was a critical emergency they would have seen you right away! I'm not saying it's good news but at least it's not emergency news. Good luck :goodluck:

DS had a brain MRI last Tuesday. They said it would be about a week before they got the results to our doctor. I called today because I had not heard from anyone, and the doctor hadn't received them, so they requested them from the hospital. After they got them, they called to schedule an appointment 2 freaking weeks from now to give us the results. They won't give us anything. It's hard not to flip out when the things they were looking for were really scary things, but I'm hoping that not rushing to get us in is a good sign? Is it normal to hold out results even if they're normal?
