I think pizza would make a great addition. Also, byob is totally normal (and expected) in my circle of family and friends... We generally don't show up anywhere without booze unless we aren't planning to drink! I wouldn't be offended at all.

The pizza is a great idea, if you get the pre-baked dough crust make sure you make it nice and thin so it gets crispy, that will help with the portability.

@looch: this would be my first time asking people to BYOB, but really I'd want them to share the wine. A lot of times, we are asked to pick up beer or wine on the way over to a gathering. In my circle it's not unheard of, it's just something I haven't done. Maybe that isn't quite BYOB, but rather contributing to the gathering?

@T.H.O.U.: @looch: the sparkling wine isn't a bad idea. Over Christmas I had Barefoot's Sparkling Moscato, which was good. Wal-mart sells it, so even 3 bottles is still budget friendly and once the wine is gone there's still limeade.

@jhd: Thanks

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I am not sure about the BYOB part, i mean, if you do that regularly, then fine, especially if people are really into craft beers or something and they're particular. Otherwise, I think you either serve alcohol or don't, but don't ask people to bring their own.

@T.H.O.U.: try prosecco, it's a great mixer and not expensive! I also stumbled upon a sparkling wine by Yellowtail, which is my go to wine brand for parties.

I think your menu sounds great. I would probably do byob. I think the limeade sounds delicious!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think for our party I may try to find a sparkling white wine. Kinda like champagne that can be mixed with something (mimosa style) or drank plain like regular white wine. We are just kinda spreading word of mouth that people are welcome to BYOB if they want anything else.

What about one other meaty appetizer? We love meatballs or little sausages in the crock pot because its easy but it fills the guys up. Another option would be italian sausage in the crock pot with onions and peppers and then people could put on a bun or eat plain.

@looch: do you have an easy-peasy recipe to share? I could buy 2-3 Amy's Roasted Veg pizzas. They have a sweet onion jam sauce and just add the goat cheese.

I'd probably add a pizza, like goat cheese with fig jam. Super easy and budget friendly. People are always wowed by the sweet/salty combo.

I'm hosting a documentary watch party and am stuck on the menu. Please help!

The party will begin around 3 pm and since people will sit on the couch or bar stools I'd like the food to be portable. So far this is what I'm planning:

SIPS- limeade infused with mint & raspberry
* still debating if I should provide Vodka or Champagne to spike OR serve wine OR ask people to BYOB to share WDYT

SNACKS-
chips & salsa bar (use paper trays to serve)
* yellow & blue tortilla chips
* guacamole, tomatillo salsa, corn & black bean salsa, fruit salsa, cojita cheese
**really guac & 3 salsas & cheese topping

SWEETS
- chocolate covered pretzels
- fruit mousse topped w/ real fruit (use mini shooters & spoons to serve)
**Not sure which fruit yet; I have only made vanilla bean mousse before.

Do I need something else for the SNACKS? I love pita & dips/ crostini & toppings, but is that too similar to chips & salsa? Everyone coming does eat meat.

This party needs to be budget friendly.

ETA: what's the best approach for the SIPS?
