Dh and I are both blonde and light-eyed, and we get the comments about how cute she'll be...And I always think, "Well what if she doesn't look like that?" That combined with the general non-cuteness that can sometimes happen with newborns, where they look funny so early on. I had a MAJOR cone head and was not a cute newborn. Ours did too, but it turned out adorable after he was born. I feel like everytime someone says she will be cute based on our ethnicities or whatever else .. or points out a baby and says maybe yours will look like that..what if she doesn't? As far as the nose thing, our is pretty extreme but I have seen others like it where the baby turned out with a normal looking nose. I think most 3d/4d ultrasounds have the wide nose thing, to be honest!</p> <p>I feel some pressure because all people say to us is how beautiful she'll be because "DH was the most beautiful baby!" and that I had "huge blue eyes and blonde hair!" ...what if she comes out without those features? I'm so afraid everyone is going to be disappointed! My DH has a big thick nose and my side of the family has a long pointy noise. I still thought she was cute (and I know those images tend to be inaccurate anyway, especially with the noses) but MIL just said whose nose is that? (And she is not only a person who usually says all babies are cute, but she knows I was worried about that too!) After the less than excited reaction I realized that there seems to be this pressure from some people to have a cute baby. Am I just imagining this?</p> <p>I've gotten comments that seem to imply that the excitement about the baby, the thing that will make it worthwhile, is if she is cute. Everyone sort of assumes she's healthy and nobody asks about other plans... what they comment on is what she'll look like.</p> <p>Maybe I'm being a little oversensitive but now I feel like some people will be disappointed if they don't deem her cute, or treat her differently! (DH and I will love her unconditionally no matter what she looks like!)</p> <p>Anyone else feel this way? Or is it just me?? (It's ok if it is!) </p>
