@Foodnerd81: The first cycle, it's sooooooooo hard not to get your hopes up! Even when you know logically that you only have a 20% chance to get pregnant, everything still convinces you that it's happened! I hope you're one of the lucky ones! :)

I had a 15 day LP and got my BFP at 9/10dpo. It definitely is related to implantation, not LP.

Thanks ladies. Yeah, it took me a while to put two and two together that implantation isn't dependent on LP in any way. I'll keep you all updated next week. But I'm not getting my hopes up anyway. (lies. total lies. Hopes are already up).

I definitely think you can test early, though if it's negative, don't get discouraged until AF shows up. I think you can implant anywhere from 6-10 DPO and then a few days later, you'd be able to detect a BFP. So it all depends on when you implant for when you can really test. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I don't think when you get your positive has anything to do with the length of your LP. It has to do with how long the egg takes to travel down the fallopian tubes and implant. After implantation your body starts producing HCG and with a few days after implantation there's enough for a test to pick up.

@oliviaoblivia: That's exactly what I wanted to hear! The last day of our getaway will be 11 DPO :) Up until now I always said I would just wait until my period is late, it's stupid to test early. Stupid me, not understanding the level of impatience I'd feel.

I'm curious-- does a long luteal phase mean that it will take longer for you to get a BFP (if you do get pregnant that cycle)? Most people seem to get their BFP by around 14-15 DPO, but for me, that would still be a few days before AF would be late (I have a looong LP of 16-18 days).

It's only our first cycle trying so I know it probably won't happen anyway, but a girl can dream. And we will be away this weekend for our anniversary so it would be awesome to get a BFP while we are away...

If you have a long LP and got a BFP, when did you get it and how long is your LP usually?
