For me it's play - I just don't know how to play with her. I pass her toys and say "wow" repeatedly and... that's all I got! She gets bored and frustrated after just a few minutes and starts to whinge - and I feel like a complete loser.

Baby health and food. I always jump the gun when he has something, so then I'm shy about going to the doctor when he really has something. I'm a mess in the health department.

Food...he's allergic to egg and has decided he's boycotting all veggies and meat. So fruit it is right now. I'm struggling with how to get him to eat different things.

Discipline. LO practically demands cookies from waking up. This morning, he acted up a bit when getting ready no matter how much I made a game of it. I got him dressed and ready to go. For good-ish behavior, I gave in and gave him 2 cookies before going to daycare. I felt like a failure.

I worry about him being like my nephews who are out of control because my brother disciplines, but my SIL doesn't. I don't want him to be like them. I feel like giving into cookies will lead him down that path.

The things that make me feel like an idiot parent change weekly (daily?) ha! When he was an infant it was breastfeeding, sleep schedule, solids, etc...Toddlerhood, I am constantly worrying about how much he is eating since he is super picky now  and I am always worried that I don't read to him enough, do enough activities, etc.

everything listed... Naps, sleep/self soothing, health/illness, breastfeeding/pumping, aversion to daddy.... the moment i think i've figured it out is the moment everything changes.

at this point i'm just going on the theory that you fake it until you make it.... Inspite of me feeling like i have no clue what i'm doing i still must be doing something right because while we're just about surviving, she's thriving.

@.twist.: If you can nail breastfeeding you can nail solids. ;) I got an Anabel Karmel books about solids (purees) and it helped a lot. Let me know if you want to know which book it is.

Solids for us too. I have no idea how to transition him. He loved purees...every single flavor combo, veggies, etc. Now that we're starting full on table solids, he has become super picky. Our ped said it's going to get worse too! I have no idea how to get him to eat!

every time something changes with her sleep I feel totally incompetent. Like, she needs to be awake longer between naps and I cannot figure out a schedule that works. How hard can it be?!
Also, a nursing schedule. I nurse on demand, but at almost 10 months I really thought (and wish) she'd be nursing less frequently.
I mean, chronic fatigue probably makes things a little harder than they need to be, too.

@.twist.: @Elderberrygin: Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes on the sleep!! DS is almost 7 months and still wakes up every 1.5 hours at night. OMG!!! He was STTN for about a week until he caught the flu and STTN went out the door. I'm about to keel over from sleep deprivation.....

@Elderberrygin: DS was sick for the first time when he was 4 months old, but had no fever. DH keeps pushing me to take him to the dr. I said he doesn't have a fever and he's so little, they won't see him any way. 2 days later, I gave in and went. DS had RSV. I felt sooooo bad!! Mommy fail. :(

@ALV91711: I hear stories about how their baby self soothes and goes right back to sleep. Um no. DS just screams bloody murder and will continue to do so until he wears himself out. Then he'll nap for about 15 minutes to recoup and be at it again.

@.twist.: @lawbee11: DS was doing okay on purees, but all of the sudden isn't a fan. He LOVES carrots though. Everything else, especially fruits is yuck yuck yuck.

@mskeee: Nails - omg!! They grow so flipping fast. I swear I cut them every 3-4 days! And I cut them down pretty good too. Guess it's a good sign they're eating well?

For me it's baby hygiene/personal care. How do I clean her ears? Why are her nails always so long and dirty? Do I bathe her too much? Too little? Does she need a haircut? I don't know any of these answers at 7 months.

@lawbee11: Exactly this with the cries! I get embarrassed sometimes when we're out and I know she's not tired and I assume she's not still hungry 'cos she's downed like 8oz half an hour ago.

Often I find myself saying to people "she's having a bad day" or "she's a little fussy today" but deep down I know that this is just how she is...so I feel a bit of an idiot doing that.

The fact that I'm NOT finding anything too difficult is making me feel like an idiot. I feel like there is obviously something huge that I'm missing, and it stresses me out so bad! I don't want to screw up my kid by not putting enough thought into things, kwim?

@.twist.: Yes on the solids. We just started and I already don't like it. Nursing is way easier! I'm not brave enough to try BLW...maybe in a month or two!

Differentiating cries makes me feel like an idiot. I hear all these moms say they can tell what their baby wants by the cry. Uhh, my LO just always sounds pissed--I cannot differentiate them!

@.twist.: Ugh. Solids. We're in a groove now at 11 months, but when our pediatrician gave us the go-ahead at 4 months I straight up told her it was too stressful to add solids on top of breastfeeding and colic. Too much to think about.
