I work in Benefits which is an arm of HR, and we usually don't get much thanks either. My old boss was a big jerkface, and my new boss is a total 180 of him. She will constantly send emails thanking me for things she wouldn't normally have thought about and thanking me for my suggestions that she may or may not take. Being an HR rep is often a thankless job where people assume the worst of you so it's nice to have support!
