Now that we are in Japan, it's very common to be addressed by our last name. Japanese people always refer to each other by their last names, especially at work. I think only family or close friends use first names. Since we are foreign, we get half and half. Usually when we introduce ourselves, we tend to give our first name, so that's what they call us. If it's a more formal setting, where someone else is introducing us to other people, it's always last name first.
