Sometimes my 15 month old wakes for 2-3 hrs at a time. But lately we have been lucky. Hoping it stays this way. I've had to start letting dd cry when she wakes up... Only once did she stop and go to sleep on her own but usually after 20 min crying she is much easier to get down. I usually don't try that til after twenty min of trying to get her back down. So it can sort of reduce the 2-3 hr wake up to 1 hr if it goes "well." We have our ups and downs. That's why I don't really like the "when did your LO sttn?" question. It didn't just happen one day and never change...

@matador84: ugh! luckily she mainly cries out (nightmare? belly? teeth?) and when I give her the pacifier she goes right back out. she won't sleep with a nightlight, so i think when it's pitch black she can't find her binky. I would be dying if I were you! :(

Yes, our 26 month old wakes up at least once screaming like shes being tortured. She's also started refusing to go to bed so now bedtime is stretched out until 11:30 (beginning at 8:30).

Almost 20 months and used to sleep through but hasn't been lately. Last night was 7-5:30 after some ignoring in the early morning. Finally went and got her when she started yelling "momma, where are you?" She came to our bed, nursed and slept for another hour or so.

Miss A is 14.5 months and sttn very occasionally but we at least seem to be moving in the right direction although our night waking's are very inconsistent. Some nights she'll sleep through till 4 or 5 in the morning and other nights she wakes at 12 and more often than not ends up in bed with me because she doesn't want to settle back in her cot.

Does anybody else have an inconsistent sleeper?

So do you all let lo CIO? Or go get them? Ds occasionally wakes up at night screaming and usually I let him cry, bit he's been so loud and inconsolable I go in and get him. I'm nearly 8 months Prego and huge and can barely rock him. It's killing me!

@CottonCandy: About a month ago DD would wake up several times a night screaming inconsolable too. Not sure if if was night terrors or what but we would have to take her out of her room for her to calm down. That lasted for about 2 weeks but she doesn't wake up screaming anymore. Pretty sure it was teething related. On another note she caught a small cold and woke up every 45 minutes last night... She hates us.

Last week was horrible. At 29 months (almost 2.5 yo), DD would wake up 1-2 times a night completely crying and screaming... and totally inconsolable. Taking her to the living room to calm down was the only thing that worked, but sometimes it took a while to get her to calm down, let alone go back to sleep.

But the past 2-3 nights have been fine, so I guess it was a phase. I still don't know the reasoning for our wake-ups. Hope yours goes back to STTN soon too!

27 months here, and no, not always. Often she'll wake up at 3 or 4, or sometimes as late as 5. My husband goes down and spends the rest of the night with her. Her sleep has consistently gotten better, but it's still not perfect. I've found that keeping her room really warm is helping a ton - it gets cold, so I thought I was ok just putting a heavy blanket on the bed. But then we figured out that she doesn't always sleep under them, and she was waking up cold. Duh. So fixing that really helped.

We're 16 months here. One of them is a more solid sleeper but has been battling ear infections and molars, so he wakes up a couple times. The other - oh boy. He has been a crappy sleeper from the start but now he's battling molars too! We co-sleep part time, meaning we start in their cribs and they come to us in the middle of the night if it gets to be too much for mommy and daddy to handle. The last few weeks, I feel like I've been smushed between two babies full-time! I'm exhausted!

Yes! LO is 23 months and still sleeps in our room, in her crib. She has really good hearing and will almost always wake up when DH and I go in to sleep, even though we are practically tip-toeing in. Sometimes she will fall back asleep right away in our bed and other times, she will stay awake for awhile, chattering and wanting to play. She seems to think parties at 3am are fun :silly:

@BabyBoecksMom: it's funny because I thought my lo was the only one that did that lol! We usually just sit there in the rocker with her and try to distract her (while still talking really quietly) about things she likes. Most of the time it doesn't work and I just sit there while she tantrums and want to bang my head against a wall!

@CottonCandy: I feel your pain :-( DD is 23 months and used to STTN, now she's waking at least once a night. Some nights, she'll throw huge tantrums when we do go in there, so it takes 45 min to get her back to sleep... and by then, I'm wide awake. We're adding a newborn to the mix in about 3 months, so I don't think I'll ever get to sleep again.

She goes back and forth on sleeping through the night or not. For example, this week she was doing REALLY good. Then last night she was crying and I thought ok I will leave her be for a minute or two and see what she does. Of course she didn't go back to sleep so I went to get her and she had wondered out of her bed and was looking for us in a dark house.

When we night weaned her around age 1, we decided that she wouldn't get out of bed. We would come in and sit with her but she had to stay in bed.

@CottonCandy: She doesn't scream my name yet in the middle of the night, unless my name is Boobies. I've been trying to just pat her back and ignore the call but this past week when I deny her she gets really mad and starts screaming, NO NO NO at the top of her voice. I don't think our neighbors appreciate that.
