My DS is big and has basically always been. He was born at 7 pounds, 6 ounces but by 8 months old he was almost 23 pounds. Now at almost 15 months he's 25 pounds so once he started walking it WAY slowed down.

I worry about this sometimes, but I tend to worry a lot in general, lol! My LO is big, but well proportioned. She was 8 lb 12oz and 22" at birth. She has always been 99th percentile for height and between 75-90th percentile for weight. I think right now she's 99th for height and 90th for weight.... I cant remember her height exactly, but I think she's 33 or 34" and 24 lbs (at 12.5 months).. She loves to eat, so sometimes I worry she's eating too much, but then again, she is really tall! Her ped says she's fine and could even gain a few percentiles in weight to catch up to her height.

@Modern Daisy: why would you think something was wrong??

My LO has usually been around the 75% for height and/or weight at his appointments and people usually comment how "solid" he is. Percentile charts exist so.. someone always has to be at the top or bottom, it wouldn't make any sense to have everyone "average". If LO is happy and healthy, just look at it as an extra arm work out :)

He's always been a big baby, but he's not a butterball baby. He's very solid--all muscle. He's always been very active (always on the move, first crawling, then walking, now running) and he has a great appetite. He's more or less stayed on his curve, so his pedi isn't concerned, and neither are we.

Both of mine are bigger. For the first 12 months DD hung out in the 90+ percentile for height. Most people see him and think he's older. At 19 months he was 27lbs and 34 inches.

DD was born 7lbs 5oz and 19 1/4 inches, so we were expecting her to be little. At her 4 month appointment she was 14lbs 9oz and 26inches tall! She's already 2 inches bigger than her little cousin who is 2 months older than her.

My LO was 6lb 11 at birth but within 3 months had shot into the 98th percent for height.
At 1 year he is 33 inches and towers over his buddies.mhis weight is 50% or so for that height! but he still weighs like 27lb!

Ditto @Mamasig:. While I always questioned his weight gain the doctors never seemed concerned because he was following his own curve. They always said he will thin out once he became more mobile/active and his body took on the toddle shape, which he did.

My LO is huge, I call him my beefcake and my sister calls him chunky. I don't know his exact current stats at 8 months, but he got some 12 month jammies for Christmas and I can barely squeeze him into them! He was average at birth (7 15), but has always been in the 90s percentile-wise.

@rahlyrah: DS was 20 lbs and 26.25" at 6 months. By 1 year he was *only* 22 lbs and at his last appointment (2.5 years) he was 32 lbs. He was EBF and had reflux and food allergies/intolerances and still gained like a champ during that first year. His weight gain really slowed down once he became mobile during the second half of the first year and he has really thinned out although, while he did weigh more than other kids his age he never looked fat/huge/weird to me, but proportioned all around.

ETA: He was 7 lbs 7 oz and 21" at birth. DD was 7 lb 3 oz and 19" at birth and so far she has gained exactly the same amount of weight as he did at both her 10 day and 1 month appointments (she was 10 lbs at 1 month and he was 10 lbs 8 oz).

J was 8.1 21.5 at birth and wasn't growing much the first 3 months, then he shot up! He's in 98%+ for both height and weight at 18 mo. I figure better to be growing a ton than not at all :)

DS was 10 lbs 9 oz at birth and has remained big since then. He's consistently been 90%-98% in height and weight. At 15 months, he's about 29 pounds and 33 inches. The doctor has never been concerned because he has stayed on his growth curve. He's not a chubby kid - just solid.

Carrying a big baby was hard but I love that he wasn't little and didn't seem fragile at birth. I've wondered when his growth will even out but so far it hasn't!

My LO is on the smaller side, but her cousin who was born a week later is both 90% for height and weight! It is hilarious to see them together because the younger baby has like 4+ lbs on my little one. But they're both developing great and actually it's interesting to see how similar they are, so I say, enjoy your baby at whatever size he is.

Yes and it's been actually a little concerning to me too. At DS's 4 month appt two weeks ago he weighed 16 lbs and was 26.5 inches. He has catapulted into the 95th percentile for everything. Our Dr. doesn't seem worried but I am starting to wonder if there is something wrong with him :(

LO was always a bigger baby- around 90% in weight and height until 8 or so months. The she started crawling and walking and really slimmed down, i miss her chub!! She is still taller than most 1 year olds her age, but her weight is slowing down since she is SO active and always on the move.

C has always been 95%+, the exception being her weight since 18m.

She was 10lbs8oz and 22" at birth. 15lbs7oz and 25.5" at 3 months. 21lbs2oz and 28.5" at 6 months. Now, at 20 months, she's 29lbs and 36" tall (88th for weight and 100th for height).

Her doctors have never been concerned. She's grows in her own curve and her growth is steady, plus she is height-weight proportionate. My mom said me and my brothers were the same until we were 2-3.

Lo was just over ten at birth and stayed in the 99%+ for height and weight until six months when she dropped to 90%weight, nine months she fell to 85% for weight but is back up to 90% at almost one year. I was big for my age until seventh grade, always 85% or higher, and then everyone else caught up. I hope it's the same for DD. I hated being taller than the boys but am now happy at a normal 5'7".

Eta: there are days when I see a bitty newborn and am wistful that my newborn came home in three month clothes. But she has been very healthy, a great sleeper since day one, and overall a fabulous baby. It would be nice to not be buying toddler clothes for my baby but if her size brings health and strength so be it.

LO was born 9 pounds 1 oz. I loved that he was big! Aside from the obvious ouchy wow wow of delivering a big baby, it was nice to not have a fragile little guy. He had some neck control right away and was just generally very physically sound ad even ahead. It's been great! 6 months now and he's starting to even out - dropping from 80 and 90th percentile a to 60th. I think this is due to all the physical milestones he's trying out!

I would have to go back to look at her stats but I think she was around there. At age 2 she's still big but has hung around 30lbs for a while now. She's loosing some of her belly and turning into more of a toddler.

I know everyone says not to compare your LO to others, but it is so hard not to, especially when my kid is HUGE compared to others his age (and older)! At 6 months, he was 19.5 pounds (82%) and 28.5 inches (94%). Our pedi wasn't concerned but for me it's a little disconcerting that he weighs more than many one-year-olds!

Is anyone else raising a line backer? If your LO is older, did his/her weight & height ever even out?
