And the types of vacations we would go on, such as cruises or resorts, we can bring the baby on! We did go on a babymoon this year and we intend to go on a vacation a year so long as we have afford it. But I get over vacations pretty quickly! I enjoy it for aa few days but then I start missing my bed and being at home. I do not like traveling. Now I enjoy it and do much better with it personally because I do it for the sake of my family, so I'm more distracted and less unhappy just being away from home. But I get terribly homesick and have a really hard time sleeping anywhere else other than my own bed. Wagon Sr.'s job gets us nights in the most upscale hotels in our city, and I still have a "I wanna go home" moment every night I spend in the most luxurious hotel rooms. I was homesick every single day of our 10 day honeymoon... and towards the end I actually got physically sick with no explanation other than that I was homesick. We had our last dinner at The Cheesecake Factory because I just wanted a taste of home!! </p> <p>You are NOT alone!!! DH hates it and I don't love it either. I hate the actual traveling part (driving, flying) and how time consuming and exhausting it is. I also miss the comforts of home and am super frugal. Lately, we fly to the inlaws which isn't a vacation for me. DH acts like it is, but it isn't when you're still on the same schedule, not getting to sleep in, and taking care of the kid because the inlaws sleep in like teenagers.</p> <p>I like vacations. A friend of mine said something interesting about them. She said they're not real life. It's an escape, but not day to day life. I get anxiety just thinking about traveling far away. I do love going to nearby tourist cities though. Places that are a 3-4 hour drive are fine with me. The travel bug hit me fast and furious when I was young, and it just gets worse the older I get. It's the number 1 thing my husband and I splurge on. </p> <p>I will say, traveling for work is another thing. I used to love it, but then I got a house and pets and it turns out that my house is nicer than most hotels and it's a PITA to find someone to watch my pets (not to mention the baby we now have) and travel just became a huge pain in the ass. We kept trying but the last few vacations we took I felt like we spent all this money and had all this stress preparing for the trip and arranging for pet care, then we have to deal with flying HATE and get to a hotel that is inevitably disappointing because the bed/sheets/pillows are not as comfortable as mine and I can't get past the idea of how many other people have been in that shower and it's always too hot or too cold. And maybe whatever we went to see is cool. It probably is. But I'm over it in like 2 days, and stressed about the money we're spending and missing my animals. And then we're sort of pretending to have fun because we spent all this money but really we just sort of want to go home. And then we get to travel home again! And we have a ton of unpacking to do and then bam back to work. </p> <p>I'm sure that sounds totally debbie downerish so I don't usually share all that (but you asked)... but realistically we just realized that at this point in our life we just don't enjoy vacations, esp not for the cost. Some day if we have a lot of money so we can stay in REALLY nice places and take really convenient first class direct flights and whatnot.. maybe it will feel more worth it.
