I cried the first time I read to E! I read Guess How Much I Love You and sobbed at the end! Room on the Broom doesn't quite do it for me though, fortunately!!

I don't read to her yet, but I sung to her yesterday and I was crying so much I couldn't get the words out! Only songs I could think of at the time were Xmas ones, so I sung Away In A Manger over and over!

@Sapphiresun: Reading childhood books are definitely extra-special. I hear you on the 7 weeks pp hormones!

@lawbee11: I don't think I've ever read that one!

@travelingnanny: I wish, sometimes I feel like I cry at everything.

@travelgirl1: I can't sing Baby Mine (Dumbo) without becoming a sobbing mess. I also have that problem with Counting Crows' Round Here, but that's another story ;)

@looch: So there's hope? I can't imagine how embarrassing this will be when she's old enough to know I'm crying!

@Happygal: books that have a special meaning to you, or just anything?

@owlmom: Ah - we read her that on the day we came home from the hospital and I was a mess! I've yet to read it to her and she's 9 months old. ;)

I used to tear up while singing to her sometimes. I had to stop singing You Are My Sunshine because the line about taking my sunshine away got me every time, lol.

I get that way especially if I read books that I loved as a kid. And my mom gave me my childhood books that she saved when N was born so that happens a fair bit.
But, I'm also 7 weeks pp... so I tear up a lot.

I wrote yesterday in my blog post about how "on the night you were born" used to make me cry when Lala was very little. That faded away after a couple of months, but the joint love of books never faded.

@owlmom: lol! I first tried to tell myself that it was the material (The Last Unicorn excerpts for instance, which was the only thing I had handy on my phone one night). But no, I will apparently cry at anything. Today we read Peter Rabbit What's that Noise, The Napping House, and Little Bear, and I went through quite a few tissues.

And yes, I'm sure it would be a complete sobfest if I brought out On the Night You Were Born!

It depends on the book - I've banned On the Night You Were Born because I can't read more than a couple pages without crying. But I also started crying at a freakin' cheerios commercial today, so I've clearly got a problem ;)

I feel so weird. E is only 7 weeks old, but I adore reading and want to foster that love of words in her as well. So I've taken to reading books to her, and cannot seem to do so without tearing up every single time! Tears end up streaming down my face, my nose ends up running (attractive). I don't know if it's the voice I use or the emotion of the fact that I'm reading to my daughter.

Just wondering if I'm alone in this.
