Our 15 year old DD has ADHD, Bipolar, and high functioning MR. Our 13 DS has ADHD and Bipolar. 3 year old DS has ADHD and Sensory Intigration Disorder. So we are full of special needs in our family but we wouldn't have it any other way.

Probably a lot of us do but don't know it yet! You are way ahead of the curve, and like Mrs. JAcks said, are going to be an amazingly supportive parent because of it.

I don't have a special needs child (as far as I know), but I work with so many. Parents that are strong advocates go a long way... An analogy that I've often heard is that it's like expecting a trip
To Paris and instead being rerouted to holland. Holland is great, but you didn't pick it. In your case you are picking holland, so there is less likely tone a huge adjustment period :)

Mrs. Hide and Seek's daughter Paige is on the autism spectrum. Reading her posts will likely be comforting to you as they have been able to access a lot of great resources for Paige and she seems to be doing wonderfully!

I've been trying to get up the courage to ask. Does anyone here (besides Mrs. Makeup) have a LO with special needs?

Because I have Aspergers, a seizure disorder, and multiple other physical health issues (that seem to run in my family), we've accepted that our child will probably have some kind of special needs. Probably neurological issues and food allergies at the very least. On one hand, I feel like at least I'll know what it's like and what to look out for, but of course there's nothing like experiencing it when it's your child and you're a new mother. I'm fortunate to work with some great parent advocates, but I was wondering if anyone here is going through this.
