However, dh's co worker that's crazy about researching about appliances and etc (he just went through a major redo on his house and he pretty much bought the best of everything out there). Whatever was in the house before was new but we wanted to replace it. It came down to Viking, Miele, or Bosch, and I honestly can't remember why we chose Miele over Bosch. But we love it.
