All of our family and close friends know and have been wonderful and supportive. </p> <p>It's made things easier for me because friends who have become pregnant have been really sensive in the way they share the news with me, people are understanding that baby showers are hard for me, etc. </p> <p>Infertility is so painful and isolating. I told my parents because I had some questions for them when I was filling out the initial RE paperwork, medical history stuff. It's hard when people haven't been through what you're going through. But now that we have been successful, I am very open about it. I feel like it is a stigma and I know it hurts for so many people. Since I do not have all of the hurt I figure that it is easier for me to share and make it less stigmatized. Since I can. Our families know, as well as our accountant (because we needed to discuss the financial aspect of IVF) and some people we work with. Some of my friends know as well. I think that a lot of the misconception about IF is because it is so hidden, so people don't realize how common it is. We decided to tell them before my DH had surgery last March. I don't think his mother would have every forgiven me if he had surgery without her knowing! It is nice to be able to call my mom and vent when I'm feeling bad about everything. She doesn't really understand because she never had to try to conceive, but she can still comfort me. </p> <p>My DH told one of his closest friends and I have told one of mine. Both of our friends are also going through IF. </p>
