My sisters all set up changing stations in the bathroom, so it's weird to me to see them in bedrooms. It makes sense to me!

@creativemomma15: Honestly I have been so blah about all the space. I am not big on decor/clutter on the counter, but it's looked so bare (we only moved later summer and haven't done anything with it!). It was a new build and we modified this bathroom and doubled the counter space, at least for this stage in our life I feel like this would make the space productive until kids take over the bathroom once they are older ;)

@Beebug: I love this idea! Especially if you are cloth diapering and can dump the poop right there. I am kind of totally jealous of your counter space now!

I've used the floor and our bed for diaper changes. When we're out at friend's house, I've used the floor and couch to change it. Just whereever is flat.

We never had a changing table. We mostly change him either on the living room floor, on a blanket on top of the ottoman in the living room, or on the futon in his room.

I think the counter sounds like a great idea!

@looch: Yes to leaving it set up all the time. I would store everything in the drawers underneath that spot (sort of exact to how I already have everything in the top drawer of the change table currently). The bathroom is narrow, but like we're talking 10ft of counter width (normal counter depth), then open/walk in space through the middle, toilet at "back" of room, shower on opposite side of counter. The cupboard space under the sink and on opposite side if sink just stores towels and LOs bath supplies currently! We go back to DDs room now once changed to get her dressed anyways, and with #2 could keep a stash of sleepers and onesies in a drawer under the changing area/counter easily.

You are all AWESOME! DH and I talked about it last night but weren't sure, so this is the kick we needed.....!

We do this when we visit the in laws! I always set up all the diapering stuff on the bathroom counter. I think if we had room I would do it at home too! Esp with CD the bathroom is the perfect place IMO.

It sounds like it would work! I wouldn't be grossed out if I visited and had to use your bathroom. You could always leave a tube of Clorox wipes in there and wipe the countertop frequently.

I say, if it would work, do it!

See, I don't know if the counter itself is feasible, could you leave it set up all the time?

My bathroom was narrow, but there was just enough space for a 2 door cabinet. I had a spot in his bedroom to change his clothes, but I actually even kept his pajamas in the bathroom cabinet so I could dress him right after a bath. It worked phenomenally well.

It seems silly, we use the washroom in there, but do diapers (at times messier!) in the bedroom? Sink would be right there when needed, toilet too....it seems like it makes sense!

I am starting to bring together plans for nursery #2. DD has her own room, both bedrooms are 10x12 and space seems to go quick, I opted to put the change table in our spare bedroom as we rarely have anyone stay over (moved it into her room when we did) and when baby #2 comes I figured it would be used more often in there once converted to nursery. I am now debating this.

If #2 is napping, I will have to change DD elsewhere, not a huge deal, but it made me think about our bathroom. Our main bathroom (between both kid rooms) has an insane amount of counter space on either side of the one sink. I measured last night and it's like one and a half change pad lengths of counter on either side of the sink. If I did a change pad on one side, the toilet is at the edge of that counter. Drawers underneath, store stuff in there, plop poops in toilet (we CD and already walk to it following change to dump).

Is it totally gross to do it on this counter? I realize this question isn't an actual problem, just wondering if I am completely out to lunch thinking about kicking the change table to the curb, or at least to the basement until we figure out we can work without it?

PS we live in a bungalow so this would be our one changing spot, I only ever change DD in one spot currently.

PS#2 This is our main bathroom anyone visiting would use. When not changing kids I could easily stand the change pad in the space between cupboards/counter and toilet right at that spot.
