Only on vacation. She doesn't like it, and I want really hot water but obviously can't with her. Plus we do family bath time and she loves it.

We discovered showering with DD while at the beach- got sand/chlorine off easier than drawing a bath and was so quick! We do it now occasionally in lieu of a bath, she loves showers but gets to play more in the tub so prefers baths. We have only done it when both parents have been home, I don't think I could manage such a squirmy, wet, non-walking baby on my own!

We just started doing this, and it is a lot faster. I don't think I could do it by myself, though. DH takes a shower with him and holds him while I bathe him. Then he rinses him off and passes him to me to dry. LO is 4.5 months old.

We did this until J was 5 months old and could sit in the bath himself! Now that he's older I let him stand in the tub with me.

When he was an infant I usually liked having DH's help? But I could do it without him. I would put J in the bounces outside the shower while I quickly washed my hair and body. Then is grab J and I'd wash him up. When we got out, I would put a diaper on him then let him play on my bed or floor while I got dressed and did my hair. Then I'd get him dressed.

Now as a toddler I just let him run around naked for awhile while I get dressed. It's less logistics because he has more independence.

I take a bath with her from 6 months on since she wasn't fitting in the baby bath anymore & wasn't able to support herslef. She loves it, I haven't tried showering yet, but should give it a try.

I have been doing this since her stump fell off since we don't have a bathtub and I didn't want to take up the whole kitchen counter! When I'm home alone, I set her on a couple of towels in the rock n play with some toys, leave it outside the shower and wash myself. When I'm done, I bring her in with me and use a bowl of sudsy water and a washcloth to wash her off. We have a seat in the shower, so I sit down to wash and stand to rinse. I set her back down in the rocker after she's clean and put another towel on top to keep her warm and dry. Then I rinse me off one last time and we're both done! I just point the water away from the door when I open it to grab her/put her back.

@sorrycharlie: until Chloe could walk, I would only shower with her if my husband was home.

We have a rubber mat in our tub to prevent slips and falls. She likes to stand in the shower now, so ill let her but only if I hold on to her with two hands. I wash her, then she sits on her bottom in the tub & plays with her toys while I shower. Then I let her splash in the water some more before we turn off the water.

I hold on to her with one hand while I reach for her towel, then wrap her up and stand her on a bath mat while I get my towel. I dry us both off, get her in a diaper & get us dressed.

It isn't nearly as complicated as it sounds! It was awkward and "hard" the first few times but its super easy and saves so much time now!!

No, but he freaks out in the shower. Every time we've tried it he screams bloody murder until I pick him up, and then he clings to me, shakes, and latches on, glaring at the water the whole time. So for now it's just easier to give him a bath, lol.

@sorrycharlie: In our situation, B comes in the shower and just sits there, he likes splashing. Once we are done, I wrap him in a towel and get him ready, then take him back into the bathroom so I can get ready.

We have one of those large showers that has a bench, etc, so there's room for him to play while I shower.

I hear this often and would love to, but I just can't figure it out. Do you shower when someone else is home and pass them the baby after s/he's clean? Do you sit the baby on the floor of the shower while you shower? If you're alone, do you turn off the water, wrap LO in a towel, and put them somewhere while you dry off? I don't get it, hahaha!

For baths, I take LO out, dry her off, put on a diaper and lotion, clothes..I can't figure out how to do that and get myself dressed at the same time?

Or is this just the purpose of hopping in to clean them, and not yourself - taking a shower for yourself in the am?

sorry for so many questions! i'm intrigued :)

We did regularly once she turned a year and was a very competent walker. When she was an infant though we would shower with her occasionally and it was fun but I felt a little uneasy if DH wasn't there to help me out if I needed it because she would get squiggly sometimes.

I shower with the kids on a regular basis now (3 years and 15 months) but they didn't like the shower until recently. Before DH or I bathed with them every night instead!

I do, but not by choice. B likes to crawl into the shower while I'm showering in the morning. Taking care of B all by myself in the morning while trying to get ready for work is super FUN! :)

I went to a father's day get together this weekend and I was telling DH's best friend's wife, M, that LO does not like to lay down in her whale tub and its a struggle to give her a bath now. M said she stopped giving her kids baths when they were 4 month old and they took a shower with their dad (both boys). I was intrigued because she said it took less time to give their LOs baths. So I tried it when we got back home and it was so easy!

I was wondering if anyone else did this.
