I find it so so so much easier to get up at 5 when I'm not waking up to a pitch dark room. Like Catlady, mine lights up slowly over about a half hour - half the time I wake up on my own during that time. Mine lights up gradually starting around 20 min before the alarm goes off, and the alarm itself is just birds chirping. It has made so much difference for me, especially in the winter. I used to hate waking up in the dark to a noisy buzzer. In the summer, the light doesn't work as well to wake me but the birds are still nicer than a buzzer. But the hotel room also had no windows so it made a huge difference.
