i'm def getting excited ever since ds turned one, but i know there's still a selfish part of me that wants to enjoy having my body for myself (we just weaned bfing), and also enjoying having DS be an onlyl just for a lil while longer.

still every time i see a bfp post or preg announcement, gets me warmmm with the fevaaaa

@Adira: Obviously, I don't know what it is like to just have one baby, but I promise something magical happens when you have two (and I assume it's the same with three, four, or fifteen kids). You love one baby as much as a human can possibly love another human, and somehow you love the other baby as much as a human can possibly love another human. It's cheesy, but having more than one kid really does just multiply the love and not subtract from it. I worried during my pregnancy that I wouldn't be able to give each baby all the love and attention that they deserved, but I don't feel like that at all. Sure, I try to spend some time with each baby individually, but the time you spend with both at the same time is also so much fun for everyone. Plus, I swear to you there is nothing more beautiful and precious than seeing your children together. Now they show love by stealing toys and crawling over each other, but when they were little and would cuddle up together....I swear my heart should have exploded. (Just to add to your baby fever. Apparently I'm the enabler now.)

@Greentea: It's definitely confusing! But I have a brother and I LOVE having a sibling, so I'm hoping Xander will love it too. Plus I want Xander's children to be able to have cousins, and I feel like that's more likely if he has a sibling!

I've had just enough baby fever to convince me that I want a second child most likely rather than being one and done. But I too have heard that right around 9 months it becomes tempting to have another (from my SIL who did just that) and then the thought of doing it all again so soon is too scary for me. I think we will be waiting a little while.

Yes, it comes and goes depending on the day. Heck, I'm halfway through my second pregnancy and some days I'm excited, and some I'm terrified!

Day to day it changes between wondering how people don't have a million kids and wondering if we should have stopped at one. The 9-10 month mark was really rough for us, but then he got just plain fun and the baby rabies kicked in really badly.

I'm so feeling this too. I go in waves because I want a sibling for my son and I worry about struggling to get pregnant but then I also worry about splitting my focus or trying to manage two little ones as a stay at home mom and it scares me. We start TTC in January. I still deep down hope it goes well and happens quickly but I am also trying to enjoy this time before it ends.

My husband and I really felt that way for her first year. I'd suggest going for it, honestly. The older and easier my daughter gets, the less I want to do it again. Another baby would have been harder, but I think I'd rather have just stayed in the difficult baby zone. Far better than getting out of it, getting your life and your body and your brain back, and then wondering if you reaaaaaaaaally want to go back.

I've never had baby fever really. Though when DS was about 9 months old, I thought I could do this again. He's 14 months now and I'm due with LO#2 in May. I think baby fever actually has been hitting me lately. I guess it's excitement?

@Adira: that is how I feel. I love dd so much sometimes I think I want just her... then other times I want more because I love her so much... and I think she will like having all of my attention and being an only and I could be more balanced... then I think she would like to have a sibling. Confusing!

I go back and forth on this all the time. M will be a year on the 11th (!!) and most of the time I just cannot picture myself wanting to be pregnant anytime soon. Yet I think I'd like her to have a sibling - and I know I'd want us to start trying by this summer at least. We'll see what happens. I think we're just still on the fence and haven't come to any real decisions yet.

My LO is 6.5 months and I'm starting to get baby fever pretty bad... But then some days I sit back and realize that oh, it's not baby fever, I'm just falling more and more in love with her every day. Now that we're at a point where she usually STTN, but isn't yet mobile, I feel like I could totally take on another one. Then I remind myself that I'm still 20+ pounds over my prepreg weight, am not back at work yet, and not having to manage tantrums or even walking.

@Silva: Oh, believe me, I think about that A LOT!!! :) FYI, I never had an OUNCE of baby fever until about 2 weeks ago (so right around 8 1/2 months. Then, one day I had this epiphany that they weren't my little tiny babies anymore and WHAM. There it was, not a massive dose of it yet, but definitely there. So weird and insane. :)

@septca: I totally agree with this. Once STTN happened and LO began to crawl, etc. around that age, the baby fever definitely kicked up. Then, he hit toddlerhood. It's been a mixed bag at times. He's fun and funny, learning to communication, but testing boundaries. Sometimes, I have days where he's enough and others where I'm ready to give him a sibling.

DH was ready like the first few weeks DS came home from the hospital. Yea... no. Just. No.

DS is currently 4 months and I've got a mild case of baby fever, but am firm on not TTC again until late next Summer so when he's pretty much 1. I'm also afraid of pregnancy and LO #2 because everyone said the second one is complete opposite of #1. Um... I LOVED being pregnant (I'm one of those crazy ladies), and DS is so chill/good despite his crappy nighttime sleep. So if the myth is true, I'll be sick as a dog, hate being preggo, etc. Not cool. Not cool.

Someone recently told me that you should not pull the trigger on #2 when your baby is 8-11 months old because it is *such* a cute stage that it makes everyone want a baby. My  adorable, wonderful, precious  10 mo certainly proves that, since I have the baby fever bad these days. Especially since she started STTN (before that, not so much).

In all seriousness though, we just started TTC #2 and I am completely freaking out. I want 2+ kids, but the thought of running after DD during first tri exhaustion... well, it's exhausting just to think about it.

Well you know that I have raging baby fever! BUT some days, I look at Xander, and I really DON'T want to add another baby to the mix because I know that will mean less him and me time just the two of us, and that makes me sad! I want to enjoy him to the fullest and I think pregnancy and another baby will just make that so much harder, if not impossible! But then I remember that I want my kids close in age and I don't want there to be a huge gap between them and I know that I'll be doing Xander a HUGE favor by having another kid as soon as possible (at least, I hope), so then my baby fever kicks back in again!
