But right now, I'm in a holding pattern (due to a recent move and general busyness) and probably won't get any treatment for months. So yeah, I'm thinking about it most days, and it does get me down on most days. I switched midway through treatment from a high deductible plan (SO much easier!) where everything was covered at a certain percentage. But then in January we switched to Harvard Pilgrim HMO and the people there were not very knowledgable. </p> <p>I know that right before I got PG my RE had to lobby them to cover me for each cycle. According to their guidelines I was eligible (trying for more than 6 months, *NOT* otherwise healthy due to PCOS) and I got a letter saying I was approved for an IUI cycle. It was weird because I wasn't doing IUI, so I'm guessing they clumped it all together. It probably didn't help that I'd been laid off right before starting treatments. It just felt like nothing in my life could go right. </p> <p>Every cycle until the one I got pg I didn't respond well to the meds at first. So I was constantly in an out for ultrasounds and blood work, waiting for eggs to grow, and they wouldn't. So more meds, then back for a week or two of blood work and ultra sounds. It was exhausting. I can't even imagine what it would've been like if we'd done an IUI cycle, which at my RE requires much more monitoring.</p> <p>I tried really hard to be happy, but I had plenty of breakdowns and days when I wondered how long I could keep doing it for. Luckily DH kept encouraging me to keep up with it and constantly told me how well he thought I was handling everything. Especially while cycling. It is difficult to get your mind off of IF when you are constantly worrying about appointments, needles, and restrictions. Even while I wasn't cycling, it was constantly on my mind. I think some of the intensity comes from the fact that I was 34-35 when we discovered our issues. The one I remember is when my friend (not friend then) adopted her baby and had a baby shower and I was waiting to get started on our IVF cycle. That was rough. </p> <p>I was a little heated by the adoption thread today and how black babies are cheaper. So many couldn't believe that but they don't have to. I try very hard not to let it define who I am. I'm dealing with infertility, but that is not all I am. I think trying to keep that attitude has helped me remain a happy person. </p> <p>I still have bad days though, as does my DH. When I'm feeling down I know I have him and HB to vent to. </p>
