My immediate family (parents, sisters and brothers) is very fertile, but I do have an aunt who is infertile. Coincidentally, my husband's aunt is also infertile.

Yep. My mother struggled to conceive me (she even did IUI in the early 80s), and then never conceived again. All of the women in her line (her, her mother, grandmother) went into menopause at age 40, so we're clearly just a little defective. I went into it expecting to have trouble.

It took my parents 12 years to conceive me but I'm not sure what kind of infertility they had because the doctor told my mother she just had to relax and it would happen. I suspect she may have PCOS as I do.

I have a maternal Aunt who was never able to have biological Children. I have one child after a lot of trying and an Injectible IUI cycle. My Aunt and I both developmed Hypothyroidism in our late 20's which I wonder if that is part of the issue. My maternal grandmother had a second trimester loss but that was after 3 successful pregnanncies. No trouble on my Dad's side that I know of and my mom and my sister had no issues.

The only IF in my family is me and my mom. She took 7 years to conceive naturally! :O My mom's 4 sisters were VERY fertile. I can't even imagine how hard that was for her! :(

My mom dealt with infertility (she couldn't ovulate without help) so me and both my siblings are fertility babies. It took her 18 months to conceive me, 11 or 12 months for my sister, and 8 or 9 months for my brother (and with the second 2 kids, she started with treatments from cycle #1).

DH and I didn't have any troubles (thankfully) although I will admit that based on my mom's history, I was worried we would. We conceived #1 on our 4th cycle of trying.

I was adopted and no one I know of in my biological family struggles with infertility. My adopted mom did though - unexplained infertility for her and my adopted dad. They didn't use birth control and only had one pregnancy (my sister) 14 years into their 33 year marriage. (They're still married but obviously out of their child bearing years. ;))

No but to be fair, it seems like most of my (secondary) IF is age related. And everyone in our family had kids much younger than me. My mom did go through menopause fairly early though. So if she had been trying to have kids at my age, she probably would have been going through the same thing.

My aunt has lean type PCOS, and so do I. My mum and three sisters get pregnant by just batting their eyelids. DH's mum had seven kids in seven years and they all seem to be super fertile too. One of my SILs is really struggling to keep a pregnancy though, she has had several losses.

During the course of my infertility treatments, I learned that on my paternal side, one cousin had to have her son via surrogate & another cousin is currently struggling with TTC #1 for almost 4 years now. :bummed: On my maternal side, everyone just pops out babies like it's nothing.

Nobody on my side has had issues getting/staying pregnant, even though they all have endometriosis. It was difficult for me because my mother truly believed that you only miscarry if you "do something wrong". So I've had that stigma to deal with constantly. An aunt had uterine cancer...but no issues like mine.
