I don't worry too much. As long as they tell me what happened (I know they saw it) I figure he will learn. He does worse at home. Yesterday he fell off the ottoman because he was standing on it and we told him not to. He will learn either not to stand on the ottoman or at least not to fall off of it. We only use this in areas that we feel are safe and situations that may hurt but not a lot.

No. My son got a black eye just after he learned to walk and was using a push toy and stumbled over his feet and hit the handle of the push toy on the way down. It happens. The fact that they could tell me exactly what happened to create the bruise reassures me that they were watching. I don't expect them to hover over him or he wouldn't learn to figure out how to do some things for himself. If they weren't quite sure of how the bruise or such occurred, I'd be more concerned. Heck, he gets hurts at home standing still sometimes (dog comes by and hip checks him and down he goes) and I know I'm watching.

Depends on the age of the kid. My baby came home with a scratch on her face and she is only 3 months old. It bothered me a bit but I know she scratches her own face sometimesbut usually she only does that when she is very upset or extremely sleepy

DS doesn't go to daycare (I'm a SAHM) but I babysit a little girl. I have been watching her since she was 6 weeks old and she's about to be 2. When she was learning how to walk she fell a few times and hit her head on toys. She had a few bigger bumps on her head but I was always watching her it's just something that happens with LO's. Her Mom never acted upset about the bumps and bruises. I always did call her when it happened to let her know what happened.

A little... I don't care about the knee scrapes and the little bruises... but with big falls with a big forehead bruise I always wonder if she should have been watched a little more carefully.

When Charlie comes home from daycare with bumps and bruises, I don't think it bothers me even 1%. Unless we're going to be taking pictures that weekend, and then maybe I will muster up 5% worth of bother.

I just think that kids get bumps and bruises when they play with other kids. I wouldn't have it any other way! We'll see if I feel differently when Olive goes to daycare though... maybe it just doesn't bother me because Charlie is a boy.
