It doesn't feel like Halloween at all to me!

After a long, hot summer in the UK, we are having a very mild autumn. I am still going out without a coat. It's normally icy cold by now. Halloween is the week before Bonfire Night and around the same time as Diwali so people are setting fireworks off sporadically across my city all over this period. The thing I remember most about Halloween as a child is the faint smell of fireworks in crisp, cold and slightly damp air.... 2013 just isn't cutting it!

We didn't do too much this year since Sadie's only 8 months, but I'm glad for all of the activities! I want her to get more than just one night's use out of her costume - they're expensive (and I'm cheap)! Plus, I just really love this time of year. :)

Well we had a wedding this weekend, so we didn't get to do anything Halloween this weekend but I am sending R in a Halloween outfit Mon-Wed this week. Then her costume on Thursday and a back up costume since I know she is going to spit up on the first one!

Yes! I was looking up things to do this past weekend, and almost everything had a Halloween theme. It took me a few minutes Sunday morning to realize that most of the pictures in my FB newsfeed were of people partying in their costumes. LO and I are going to a BFing Halloween party today. Plus, last week and this week at Gymboree, it's wear your costume week!

Yes! we went to 3 "fall festivals" in 2 days this weekend, and DS's school has a spirit week going on, so it's costumes all week! Plus, I'm working on making goodies bags for his class for their party on Thursday. So, yeah, Halloween all around here!

I feel like Halloween is a week long event this year! Anyone else?

On Saturday, we went trick-or-treating at the zoo. On Sunday, our church allowed kids to wear their costumes to a social after Mass for a little party (we chose not to go to the social). Today DD's gymnastics teacher called and told us the kids are supposed to wear their costumes to class. Tomorrow our church playgroup is hosting a little Halloween party, and Wednesday we got invited to a Halloween party/chili cookoff at the church down the street (I think we're going to decline this one, as well). Then Thursday is actual Halloween, of course, which means dressing up again and trick-or-treating. I actually love Halloween, but even I'm feeling a little burnt out on all the festivities! It makes me feel a little nostalgic for the days when Halloween consisted of a classroom party and one hour of trick-or-treating after dinner. :)
