Mostly because a few of them said they could never live in Portland Oregon because it rains too much. We have had signifiantly milder and shorter winters than nyc since we moved here three years ago. I think our high was 77. Then overnight it plunge down to 40. For us, that is definitely winter feeling. The weather in the winter here is like that though, up-and-down all winter.
