It hurt in the very beginning but now, it's much better and doesn't hurt at all. I also find that a manual pump hurts much more than an electric one.

Pumping doesn't hurt but it was definitely a lot of pressure pulling the first few times! It feels different than nursing and took some time to get used to, but now I'm used to it. I also have the Hygiea (purchased after reading lots of reviews, especially OhApostrophe's blog). I like that I could adjust both suction speed and strength to my comfort. I ALS read t comes standard with 27mm flanges - I haven't tried the Medela standard 25mm flanges before but this one is comfy and it looks like the right size for me.

I'm not wild about it, but it doesn't hurt anymore. It isn't the most comfortable thing in the world, but nursing isn't either.

I started by renting the Ameda hospital grade pump, then ended up buying a Hygeia pump- that thing has so much more suction than the Ameda. I could run the Ameda on full suction, but still can't run the Hygeia at that level.

Pumping hurt only in the beginning when I was using a soft suction cup (i have no idea what it's called). Once I started using the harder ones the pain went away.

Yeah. It almost reminds me of an improper latch if that makes sense? I put lanolin on after I did earlier and that helped a lot.

It hurt me a lot, but it does get better after a while. Just keep up the lanolin and letting your nipples air dry after pumping and it should ease up.

My nips only hurt when they were chapped/sore prior to pumping. If my nips are 100% fine, then pumping doesn't bother me.

Yes!

I am the opposite to Artbee. I found pumping - at first - more painful. I was lucky and had zero pain with breastfeeding but found the first few goes at pumping quite uncomfortable. After a week or so it was fine and didn't hurt. Stick with it, it does get better!

It just hurt me because my nipples were already bloody and painful. But it hurt way less then breastfeeding.

I purchased a Avent Isis manual pump and tried it for the first time the other day. I pumped after I fed my LO. Maybe I'm not doing it right but my nipples were super sore for a few hours afterwards. I was able to pump 2 oz out and now I'm a little traumatized to try it again! Did pumping hurt for any of you?
