With a mattress, it doesn't matter at all what kind, you just want to make sure it fits your crib perfectly so there are no gaps. And test the firmness by pressing the mattress between your hands-- you should not be able to press hard enough to feel the resistance from your other hand at all. We got a foam mattress-- firmest of them all.</p> <p>Also, he said that Babies R Us loosens the bolts on their cheaper cribs to make them seem more rickety on the sales floors!!!
