And she makes things like chicken soup that she'll freeze. She makes pasta, cous cous and other grains that she serves the frozen stuff with. Sometimes I have something specific in mind (like leftovers) or something to avoid (mac and cheese if we're having pasta for dinner) and those times I just let her know what lunch needs to be. I think when we first started, LO was 10 months old, so we gave her ideas on what she liked and then she ran with it.
