We have a Britax Frontier and a Graco My Size 70 and both are no-retread and really easy to tighten. Sounds like you got some kind of weird defect to me.

@Corduroy: we have the Argos and it's the easiest car seat I've ever used...the other convertible ones are a PITA to me!

We have a snugride and a 4ever, both are no rethread and very easy to tighten. I have a harder time with the safety1st grow and go in my inlaws car though. I think it just depends on the seat..

LO1 is almost 3 and moving into a 5pt harness forward facing seat so LO2 can use the convertibles. She's had the Chicco Key fit, the Nextfit and we got the Graco Argos 65 based on Lucie's List.

I thought it was hard to tighten the straps on the Nextfit but the Argos is way worse. If it isn't impossible to do while DD is in her seat it might as well be because we tried everything and cannot make it budge. We're returning them.

Are non-rethread seats generally way harder to tighten than those seats where you have to remove to adjust height occasionally? What seats have easy to adjust straps?
