@andrea: that is definitely a good option. I still researched what poses i should avoid for my own knowledge, and talked to the instructors beforehand and let them know how far along i was and asked if they would be doing any poses i should modify. Sometimes they forget there's a preggo person in the class. Avoid up dogs, backbends and crunches as they stretch the abs and can contribute to diastasis.

@caffeinated: Hmmmm....maybe I should go to a regular yoga class and just tell the instructor that I am pregnant. Doing the DVDs at home are a total snooze fest and you're right, not a work out!

i agree with jholler25! i went to a few pre-natal classes and i left without breaking a sweat and bored out of my mind. i ended up just going back to my regular yoga classes and modifying poses as necessary.

The nice thing with prenatal yoga is that it does help you with breathing and relaxation techniques, but i definitely wouldn't count it as a workout. ;)

@jholler25: it's good for me to stretch, breathe, and all that but perhaps it is too gentle, right?? :-)

@purrpletulips: "pretty much any exercise makes me yawn" LOL!

It would make me sleepy, but the room I practice in is SO freezing cold, that I can never fully relax.

I yawned through the PN yoga I did but that could have been attributed to the time of day the class was. That and pretty much any exercise makes me yawn.

It feels good, but yes. Especially being an avid yogi before pregnancy...PN yoga is pretty yawn-worthy. I get the gentle-ness though...I have to modify A LOT in the vinyasa classes I've been taking...My belly isn't very big yet and already everything feels different, so I understand why PN yoga is so intentionally sleepy:)

I'm not a big yoga fan but I did some prenatal yoga during my first pregnancy and I'll do some again this time around, but it just makes me sooooooo sleepy. Anybody else?
