Some things do show some wear but we bought the major things pre-owned on craigslist anyway and we plan to replace it with nicer stuff when she is ready for a big girl room. I wouldn't match it to the current room unless you plan on them being in there forever. My parents gave me my childhood dresser, which is maple, so we got a crib that matches it. I felt like white was too girly for a boys room and didn't think a dark wood would look right next to the maple dresser. It also helped narrow down my voices since maple is pretty hard to find! (If you stick with maple let me know, I can tell you the brands I found that had something that matched!) I didn't like the matching dresser option. Gray and white are our nursery colors though. I kinda like the look of dark wood. I could go with white cribs and they would complement the maple colored furniture. But white furniture would show stains and wear and tear more.
