If it's just an "I want to see if you'll come back into the bedroom" cry or a "I'm really tired and fighting sleep in the most pathetic sounding way" cry I can (mostly) ignore it. Anything else bothers me. Have to admit that when we sleep trained I used ear plugs so I didn't have to physically leave when he cried. It does break my heart to him him bawl... but I've gotten better with it now that he is almost 2.
