Yeah you ladies are right--- it's almost definitely not accurate while on B.C. My version of BC is not hormonal, so when I started charting I was thinking it'd be fine. However then i read that even though your cycle length won't change, the different parts of the cycle might... so now I can't really rely on it, but I still do it because I figure it's good practice/knowledge to have. Can't hurt right? (Aside from me being needlessly stressed...hehe)

On a regular cycle (non BC) ur temps should stay high (mid 98s) from right after ovulation all the way to your period. It might dip a little during implantation but should stay in the high range otherwise. Then when u get ur period ur temps will drop to the low range (97s). If ur pregnant it'll just stay high instead of dropping when u get ur period. I wouldn't rely on ur temps if ur using an IUD or any BC. They mess with ur cycle so the temps will be off. This is all just my opinion tho, I'm no expert either.

My temp usually jump up with ovulation, continues to get higher (maybe with a little bouncing around) for the next 12-14 days and then drops right before I get my period (sometimes, the morning of). I *think* that's normal, but I'm a little rusty on charting. Also, I have no idea how the IUD would affect things (I didn't even really know you could chart accurately while on BC). If you use Fertility Friend to chart you can look through the gallery of charts and see what other people's look like though!

@navy_mommy yeah I'm not sure.. that's what I was wondering too. I know you def. want it to stay high if you're pregnant. But not sure if a dip is expected if you're not?

I'm not expert, but I thought your temp only stays up if you're pregnant. If you AREN'T pregnant it drops after you ovulate, so yours seems right on...,

There's probably about 100 Bees who know better than I do though, haha.

Looking at my past three months of charts, here's the deal:

Day 1-19, mid 97s.
Day 20-22, mid 98s.
Day 23-25 or 26: mid 97s.
Repeat.

Basically my temp is only in the 'high' range for about 3 days of the whole cycle.

So does it have to stay up in the high range? Mine doesn't wanna. Guess I'm just "cool". hah.

Maybe this is also do to with the copper IUD (I read that the IUD can affect when you ovulate (even though the cycle overall stays the same length, IUD apparently can make you ovulate later with a shorter LP). I am conflicted. I want to figure this out, but I don't want my IUD out yet as we are not ready to try. Sigh.
