I wish I could work from home full time. My job does allow me to work from home, but only if I have a good reason for it, they usually dont want me to. I would love to find a good work from home job and stay home with LO

I've been researching this as well and what I've found is that writing, editing, PR, and social media are the ways to go. I've seen quite a few listings for freelance social media people to help break a company into Facebook, Twitter, etc. I've seen this pop up on mediabistro, craigslist, and indeed.

I can work from home for my current job, but it isn't encouraged. I'm an audit manager so I can review and document workpapers and correspondent with my control owners via email. I'm hoping to work part time from home once we have a LO.

I'm interested to see what jobs come up for you because that'd be an ideal situation in the future for me should I decide to be a SAHM.

@MamaBehr: I found all of my best work through online writing communities! Try getting involved in the communities and twitter chats. That's where I found work at an internship, an editing job with a publishing company, etc..

It's amazing how many opportunities are available if you ask around. It's not straightforward, but it can be very effective. Right now there are a lot of startup indie publishing companies and self-pubbed authors that need editorial eyes.

You can also find more traditional work writing and editing copy through sites like monster, elance, and linkedin.

@minnie_girl what did you do to get this job? Where do I look for them? What sort of background do I need (I was an English teacher, so that sort of thing would be something I think I could do!)

It depends on what your background is. As a paralegal I could freelance from home wills templates or help edit contracts, etc. for small firms that don't have the funds to keep a permanent person on staff. People with accounting experience tend to have a pretty easy time finding bookkeeping work for small businesses in my area.

Most of the ads on the internet for work from home stuff I'd be skeptical of though.

I work from home as a writer/editor. Writing and editing are two skills that are very internet compatible!

Do work at home jobs exist that I can do during nap time where I don't have to sell anything? I want to bring in some extra income, but I don't want to work full time and don't want to leave the house. Does this sort of job exist? If you are a work at home mom, what do you do?
