To me there is no such thing as an over supply if you have the freezer space, and if your baby will drink thawed milk!

@HeatherlovesKenny: It was...but I got mastitis, so it was kind of a double edge sword. I can't believe it was nearly 6 months ago now, it sounds so cliche, but it really does feel like it was yesterday. Good luck, I miss my little newborn :)

Whew, okay--good to know! I'm thinking maybe because this is the second time around that my milk is coming in faster? I'm not sure.

@Mrs. Stroller: 9 hours would be heavenly!!

Sounds fine to me, she won't over eat. Baby S was sleeping that much around then and up to 9 hour stretches at a time by 2.5w. Rare, but wonderful! Are you bf'ing too or exclusively pumping? She might do the same with bfing and then you could enjoy those stretches at night too!

I think that sounds sooooo nice, your lucky!

You can't overfeed a baby breast milk, whether its from the breast or a bottle. She is just a hungry baby!!

With my LO, she wont take more than 4 ounces at a feeding, but every baby is different!

ooh I don't know anything about breastfeeding, but this is one of those posts I want to read to keep me motivated to try it!! 5-6 hours sounds fantastic!

otherwise - the LOs I nanny were on formula, and I'm pretty sure they were drinking 3-4 oz of milk per serving from the beginning..but the details are fuzzy. 1.5 years ago! :)

At night I'm now getting 5 ounces of milk every time I pump (every 3-4 hours). What's crazy to me is that DD (who is a week old) can eat almost all of it but she also just started a few 5-6 hour stretches of sleep?! Does this sound normal? Is there an over supply if she's eating that much or is it possible to over feed a newborn with pumped milk? She's not spitting up and she's also a good burper.
With DS I could only pump an ounce, maybe two if I was lucky but he was also only sleeping 2 hour stretches.
