I had diarrhea right before I gave birth to all 3 of my kids. With this last one, I was in no pain whatsoever but just had a feeling that I needed to get to the hospital. Definitely go with your gut!

@jedeve: how far along are you? Bad stomach cramps can set off BH/contractions for me. I second getting hydrated and hope you feel better soon! (Unless you're ready for labor that is!)

It also may be dehydration from the loose stools causing BH. It could set off labor, but I would really try to get hydrated.

I had a stomach bug/fever and that actually set off labor...

ETA: I had already been sick all weekend joking that I'd be coughing out this baby. Bad diarrhea/fever over night, went to hospital around 1pm, had DD2 at 9pm.

It doesn't sound like labor yet. I've had those symptoms 3-5 days before labor starts. But everyone is different!

Well contractions and diarrhea both stopped suddenly. Feel bad because my husband was supposed to go out of town for work today and my FIL drove in to town. But I’m also exhausted so I’m glad they are here.

I had contractions for weeks with both LO's.. with my first my OB had to point out that when my stomach was hard I was having a contraction. They never actually hurt until after my water was broke (by the dr.) so even at 5 cm dilated, they were still painless, just super annoying.

If they're not getting closer together though, I wouldn't go into L&D, not yet at least.

It also sounds like a stomach bug with Braxton Hicks contractions to me. Have you drank a lot today? Because of the diarrhea, you're likely dehydrated which increases the likelyhood of Braxton Hicks. I was afraid of missing the signs of labor, and my SIL said that if you have to ask if you're in labor, you're not in labor. It turned out she was right. You know when you're in labor!

Does it hurt when your belly gets hard? If not, that sounds like Braxton Hicks to me. I didn't realize I was having them until my OB pointed it out.

I didn't have diarrhea when I went into labor but I know some moms do. I hope it's not a stomach bug and that you get some answers!

Responses don’t really matter, I’m just gonna go to the hospital when my FIL gets here to watch the kids. But indulge me till then!

I’ve had diarrhea for the last two hours. My stomach feels hard intermittently but I can never tell if that is a contraction or the baby pushing its back against my stomach. My back (lower to below shoulders) hurts and gets worse periodically. I’m nauseous but no vomiting.

L&D said it sounded like a stomach bug and to come in if I can’t keep down fluids or if it gets worse. I’m gonna go in anyway unless I feel better in an hour when my FIL gets here. Baby is moving a ton and everything looked normal at my NST/BPP yesterday. I’m 36w3d.
