@junebugsmama: I actually can only come back and read these responses when I'm not feeling nauseous. When it's bad I won't even open my own thread.

That was totally how it worked for me. I would still dread dread dread the actual throwing up part and then afterwards be like..oh ok. I feel better! It would take a few minutes though depending on how long I ate before I threw up. The longer the food had been inside, the more uncomfortable the process was, but I would still feel better in a few minutes!

And I don't miss it recollecting those details!

Nope. It always annoys the crap out of me when people say, "At least you can throw up, I'm so jealous! I'm just nauseous all day." Because that's not how it works...I was still nauseous all day with vomiting thrown into the mix, usually about 5 times per day. More on bad days. Every now and then I would have maybe like 5 minutes of relief before hardcore nausea returned.

@Foodnerd81: I know what you mean, I feel so bad for the HG afflicted ladies. This pregnancy has been on the rough side but I know I still have it so much better than a lot of women.

@clover: I fully recognize that my morning sickness has never been as bad as many women get it- I can only imagine how bad it can be because even what I've had sucks. And I know it was actually worse wth my first pregnancy, when I had more all day nausea. Now it's more like frequent queasiness then a sudden onset of an hour or two of bad nausea. Ugh. But considering I have not thrown up I know it could be way worse.

Sometimes. When I was super sick, no, it would not give me relief. When I was sick but not too sick, it would help. How I would describe it as is if I have to throw up repeatedly, then no it wouldn't help. If I only have to throw up once, it usually gives me relief.

In my first pregnancy I had it easy and I feel bad for ever even claiming to have morning sickness since it was so much easier than this time around. Puking does nothing for me though. I remain nauseated before, during, and after

Only for a short period of time. On the days I threw up, it was usually multiple times that day. Most days I didn't throw up at all.

Throwing up never helped me the slightest bit during the first 20 weeks... In fact, I think it made me feel worse. However, the times that I've gotten sick in the third trimester, it has seemed to help. I think the difference is that the nausea in the first 5 months was more hormonal, whereas recent nausea is more due to my stomach being crammed up in my throat!

When you have morning sickness, do you feel better after you throw up? Or just gross because you threw up but still really nauseous?

I haven't thrown up so far, with either pregnancy, but I've had a bunch of moments where if I thought about it too much or got too close to the toilet, I probably would. I wonder if I should just do it and feel better (like with a stomach bug or drinking too much.... Not that I ever did that or anything).

Eta: basically does it relieve the nausea for you?

What was your experience?
