@MrsBrewer: Hahaha, true that! My mom teases me that that's why my brother and I are five years apart--except with me, her pregnancy was fine and I was a TERRIBLE baby. I had croup for ages and they could never make me happy. Luckily, I turned out okay! ;)

@mfa_lady: ha, I'll never be anything but honest! And yes, they definitely gave me a run for my money (literally!) :silly:

I remember declaring I was miserable to my OB around 33ish weeks. Within a week or so I changed my tune and told him "oh no, THIS is true misery." I'd never been more miserable in my life.

@MrsBrewer: Whoa! That's so interesting. I like to think that maybe she was getting a little respite before the twins actually came. That seems like how it SHOULD be, doesn't it? :)

I'm speaking for my mom right now. She had me, and then a set a twins. I know her morning sickness when she was pregnant with me was horrible, she had to be hospitalized a few times for dehydration. she was miserable the entire pregnancy. But then when she was pregnant with my brother and sister (twins) she was perfectly fine! she had tons of energy and everything. Up until just the wear and tear of pregnancy hit her of course carrying twins!

I don't have another pregnancy to compare to but had a fairly rough pregnancy physical-wise. The all day morning sickness lasted about 5 months, the back/round ligament pain was awful, it was often hard to breathe (especially toward the end), I had heartburn & constipation to the point I thought I was giving birth, heh. The absolute worst issue I had was cholestatis that came on the last few weeks. My feet burned & itched to the point I was in tears and I didn't sleep at night for a couple weeks. The only thing that helped was soaking them in ice water, which I had to do constantly. And the swelling at the end, sweet lord, I was a blimp. Walking to the bathroom felt like I was running a marathon and my poor swollen feet were incredibly painful. Wow, I'm a real negative nancy! Sounds cliche but they were totally worth it. The thought of being pregnant again though makes me hyperventilate just a little.

eta: I can't remember the actual week, etc, but very early on I was unable to fit into my regular clothes, especially pants.

My twin pregnancy wasn't too bad. I know people who have been pregnant with single babies with much worse symptoms. I had a lot of nausea first tri (and I ate constantly to help it so I did gain a lot of weight early on!) but no real morning sickness. One thing is that I did have all-encompassing exhaustion all the way through my pregnancy. I never got that second tri bliss/energy that others talk about. I did have really bad heartburn starting super early, but I know people with singles that did as well. I didn't get too big (gained 30 lbs and went to 38 weeks) but it turns out that I had tiny babies in there, so that probably had something to do with it. All in all, I think my easy twin pregnancy isn't very typical so I consider myself pretty lucky!

@mfa_lady: we (well, moreso, him) were kind of excited about the prospect, but now we're like uhhh yeah that would have NOT worked out, HAHA! (We work opposite schedules and are often single-parenting.)

Since my twin pregnancy was my first, I don't really have a lot to compare to, but I think that's generally true. I don't think my test lines were any darker, but I had MS really early and really severely (like I had to take zofran every day just to keep from constantly throwing up). I was super exhausted and showed very early. From about 12 weeks on, i measured anywhere from 4-8 weeks ahead of where I was at, so you just hit certain "symptoms" earlier because the uterus starts taking up more space earlier. In addition, your body is working double to support two (or more) babies and the hormone levels are higher, so I think in general it's just a little "amped" up.

That said, every twin pregnancy is different. One of my friends had no morning sickness to speak of but had worse symptoms as far as pain and having to rest, went into early labor, etc.

@kjpugs: That's how I am, too. In the VERY early days of this pregnancy, I joked with DH about how there might be two in there (just for the heck of it, really) and he was seriously terrified. Haha! He's one of six siblings, too--but the idea of two at once just about did him in. :)

@mfa_lady: Yeah, in retrospect I did, but I didn't realize at the time I was carrying twins! I started plumping up and switching to maternity clothes around 7 weeks, I think. I thought it was just early bloating, haha!

Nope, not necessarily! I had absolutely no morning sickness with my twins. I feel like I was SUPER DUPER tired, but I don't have a singleton pregnancy to compare with. Although, I was extremely large, way bigger than I would have been with just one baby.

Disclaimer: I'm only asking this because I'm curious! Haha. My symptoms are totally normal so I'm not asking for myself.

I've just been seeing a lot of blog posts and HB threads by twin mamas lately, and I'm wondering--when you're pregnant with twins, does that always mean you have double the symptoms? I know lots of moms report super dark lines, or REALLY bad MS...is this the case for all the twin mama bees?
