DD will be 3 in a few months. I feel the stroller is necessary with her. Sometimes she remembers to stick with me when walking but sometimes she doesn't and runs off. With having a younger child it's easier to have them both in a stroller or cart rather than chasing the oldest through the place we are at

Nope. We stopped using it even at the zoo when she was about 2.5. I'm only going to buy a single for my next baby.

No, he was done with the stroller right around age 2. We never took it out for anything but longish neighborhood walks once we moved to the 'burbs (before age 1) anyhow. The stroller was a waste of money and space for us.

I would vote for option C: wear the baby and have the older child walk.

My oldest did. If it was up to him he'd be sitting in a stroller at almost 6 years old. My youngest, however, seems to like to walk more. You can also get a buggy board for those times when your 3 yr. old gets tired of walking. And then buy a cheapo double for longer days when you know he'll be tired and want to take a nap. My husband hates strollers b/c where we live, the sidewalks can be narrow or we have to wait FOREVER (seriously, sometimes 20 minutes) just to get on an elevator to get to a different floor. We're also pros at going up and down the escalators now as well. Not so safe but so necessary when the elevator is taking forever to come. SO my husband decided to wean both boys from the stroller. Me, I still use it for convenience when I need to get one of them to one place faster. Little feet don't walk too fast. Haha!

I think a wheelie board could be a good solution for you. Our LOs are almost exactly 3 years apart and I didn't want to go the double stroller route, so we got the wheelie board attachment. We do live in a walking city with no car, but I've never felt the need for a double stroller. Our current stroller has a huge basket, so I can throw everything we need in there and then my older LO can either walk or get on the wheelie board when he's tired.

Very rarely, or when he is pushing boundaries and I've had enough. I do a lot of either wearing the baby or baby in the stroller with my 3 year old walking. I figured we could get a double or sit & stand or scooter attachment if needed, but we never did. Occasionally it would be nice, but it's never been a necessity at 26 months apart.

Ya, occasionally these days...mall, walk to park, theme parks, etc. We got it when LO 2 was born...they are 16 months apart and it has been really useful for us.

E will be 3 in 3 months and rides in the single stroller while we're out at stores while I babywear LO. I only use a double stroller for running.

B used the stroller until 3 and then pretty much stopped except for runs in the double jogging stroller.

We have a 4 year gap and picked up a sit and stand style stroller (new graco that has 2 seats as well and the baby bucket can be in the back). For the activities that we do (dland) we need something that he can still sit in when he gets tired. We are very very pro baby wearing and will likely both be baby wearing a lot but with two kids we need a stuff mover as well.

We didn't use the stroller much with our 4 year old. But we could get away with a lot less stuff.

I'm curious to hear the responses to this. We are likely going to have a three year gap and this totally applies. Other than walks to the park on the weekend or a few bigger outings, like the zoo, I don't think we've used a stroller at all. I can't remember the last time we even used the umbrella stroller.

My daughter is 34m and probably hasn't sat in a stroller in a year. I debated about the double and decided I didnt need it. I might feel differently when it's nice enough to go on walks! I think by then I'll pro put both in the wagon and consider it a exercise for me! :ap

Not really counting if you live in a place like NYC, or if you're walking to the destination (the park, wherever), but if you generally drive to/from places, does your 3 year old use a stroller?

Trying to decide if a double is worth it or I should just use a single stroller and do a) walking 3 year old/ baby in stroller in combo with b) babywearing the baby/ 3 year old occasionally in the stroller.
