DS1 stopped napping at home right before 3. He would occasionally nap in the car after that. He will be 4 next month and very rarely will take a nap, even in the car. On the very rare occasion he will nap for our nanny for 45 mins at home. It doesn't affect his night sleep though.

LO1 stopped napping shortly after he turned 2. He still naps occasionally on a long car ride, but he does well without most days.

At 4, my son was no longer napping at daycare, but he would always take at least 1 weekend nap, and we would always have him nap when on vacation/traveling.

we cut naps at 3.5 - she still would have napped but the late bedtime was getting awful. putting her to bed two hours earlier is so much better! she still gets tired though, especially on longer preschool days when she stays for lunch, and will fall asleep in the car - a 15-20m car nap doesn't seem to ruin bedtime thankfully. she will only do a daytime nap at home if she's sick.

@Mrs. High Heels: gotcha. the 5.5 made me confused :) around here, I feel like none of C's friends are napping anymore (maybe because they aren't the oldest and the parents just want to be over the nap hump...)

@Mrs. Confetti: she is a January baby, so not in Kindergarten until this August. No naps in Kindergarten, but our Kindergarten only offers half days anyway!

@Mrs. High Heels: Is she in K? Do they have nap time? I had thought most places phased out naps in K (but maybe she's in pre-K and I'm losing track of grades...

C will be 4 next month and rarely naps. We maintain daily quiet time in his room, for all of our sanity. He resisted it at first but I think he's come to enjoy some solitary play time in his room (which often isn't very quiet, but whatever. He'll nap maaaaybe once every two weeks, or if he's sick or had a horrible night.

Yes, I can still get her to nap at almost 5.5, and she regularly naps at school. We'll see how long DS lasts... I'm hoping he'll drop his nap by 4!

No, he dropped them when he turned 4. He was talking to other kids during nap time so teachers suggested dropping it. He does great without it.

No...he started napping only sporadically when he turned 2.5. Mainly...he wouldn't nap at school (3 days/week at the time), and would nap at home most days and skip a weekend day. Once he turned 3, it was rare that he napped. He's 3.5 and has given them up completely. If he does nap, it means he'll be up until at least 10pm. So we do our best to keep him awake.

Nope. She dropped her last nap around 3-1/2. She gets 12 hours of sleep at night, and I think as kids go, she's on the low end of sleep needs.

At nearly four, she needs to, but generally doesn't. It's pretty near impossible to keep her in bed long enough to fall asleep at nap time. Lack of nap is making for some interesting evenings!

Cam will still fall asleep if we go somewhere in the car late in the day (going to the gym, dinner, or swim class). Usually it's less than 15 minutes and has no effect on his nighttime sleep.

He dropped his naps at 3, which worked well since little bro dropped to one nap at that point. His naps meant that he wouldn't fall asleep until close to midnight. Dropping all naps went shockingly well, we still do quiet time (usually ipad) so I get a little break and the house is quieter while little bro still naps. If he does happen to nap longer, it usually means he's getting sick.

yep my LO is turning 4 this week and still needs a nap, she fights it but usually ends up taking a nice long nap. If she doesnt nap she is exhausted by the end of the day and will fall asleep way before her bed time and then wake up in the middle of the night

Olive dropped her nap before she turned 4 because most of her friends didn't nap at preschool, but she still falls asleep once or twice a week. Usually it's late in the day like after 4 o' clock, which means a super late bedtime. But once that girl is asleep it's impossible to wake her up! She can fall asleep anywhere when she's tired.

In general she has had higher sleep needs than average, and has always been a late riser.
