I am not a believer in tummy time. We do baby wear a lot though so that strengthens the same muscles but through a more enjoyable means! I couldn't get her anywhere near the recommended daily amount. She liked it more once we got a floor mirror for her. And she did end up with a flat head but the neurologist said it was a genetic thing that the helmet wouldn't fix. </p> <p>She also learned to role tummy to back sometime in her second month. I read one recommendation to turn them on their tummies on the changing pad after every diaper change, so they get a minute here and there throughout the day. It did work until I thought about how her little face was where the poop just was... </p> <p>I wore her in the moby a ton and she had good head control from that so I tried not to worry too much. She never got a flat spot and has good upper body control and crawls like a champ now so I guess I didn't do any permanent damage. </p> <p>@Smurfette: 10-15 minutes! My cousin gave me a tummy time mat that had some fun lights and sounds and that's what started him enjoying it. I do put him on my shoulder a lot to compensate but just putting him on his tummy on the floor makes him angry. He panics and doesn't turn his head to the side.</p> <p>I know eventually he'll get it. His ped really streases tummy time so I feel a little guilty he's not getting the recommended amount. I'll go a couple days sometimes without doing it. Maybe if I made it more routine he'd like it more? </p>
