We love ours. It's the only place I can put both babies and have any guarantee of peace/happiness. He didn't care for it until he was at least 3 months old. I could leave him there for up to 20 minutes at a time, up until he was about 4.5 months old, when he learned how to roll back to tummy. I still put him on it occasionally for a few minutes, but he doesn't care for it as much as he used to. We got it free as a hand me down. He's 6 weeks so its one of like 4 things in my repertoire for keeping him entertained and occupied. Plus it's really cool to watch him notice the toys and swat/kick and them and get excited when he pegs one. Then I flip him over for tummy time. Ours is a mat with two hoops hanging over it with toys that hang down. We used it every day, multiple times a day from when he was a 1 week old all the way until about 7 months old. </p> <p>Once he started crawling, we put it away but I will take it out every so often and he likes looking at the bright colors on the mat but is only interested in it for a few minutes. We took all the hanging toys off so he uses them as teethers and toys to bring along in my diaper bag. I'd definitely get one much earlier if I were going to do it again. My advice is get one used though. From the time she was a few weeks old, she would happily lay on her mat for an hour at a time, just staring at the black and white striped toys. She then moved on to playing with the toys and the mirror and just loved it!
