My LO is the same during some naps (like today!) so she's in the carrier. Other days, I can put her down and she'll nap on her own for hours.

@sorrycharlie: I know it's easier to feel that way when you're not in the midst of it. My first just turned a year and I soooo miss those days. They went by so fast!

Yes sometimes! We def have to hold her for at least 5 min before putting her down. Sometimes she still snaps awake at 3 months.

My 6 week old does this with me too. Only way I can get her to nap during the day is if I'm wearing her. Once she's asleep, sometimes I can transfer her to the rock n play but she doesn't sleep long (maybe 20-30 minutes). And like @Meridian: , it doesn't seem to matter how long she's been asleep either.

For now I'd rather have to hold a sleeping baby, then deal with a cranky baby that hasn't napped at all. I know it's not sustainable in the long run, but it's saving my sanity for now

But if anyone has a magic solution I'd love to hear it :silly:

Yes and no, we have days where I can't put her down for nothing and days where she naps anywhere.....she naps best in her swing off or on....at night she is really good, only a handful of times does she not go right back to bed

@Adira: Babies are so strange, they have such an accurate internal clock!!

In the afternoon, my LO will ALWAYS wake up between 28 - 31 minutes after setting him down in the crib. Doesn't matter if I first hold him for 5 mins, 20 mins, or 45 mins (or anything in-between) before setting him in his crib. So I don't think it's necessarily related to his sleep cycle? And this is the afternoon naps only. Morning nap is longer, and evenings are all over the place.

My LO has a very specific window of opportunity that I can put him down. Once he falls asleep, I have to continue to hold him for exactly 12 minutes before I can set him down. 11 minutes or less and he'll wake up!

Totally normal at this point. Best advice is get a comfy carrier of you want to get things done. I just spent my maternity leave snuggling on the couch with her - nothing better then warm baby snuggles! You never get this time back - soon they'll be wiggling all over the place. It's fleetinf, try to enjoy it!

man. I'm desperate enough for double naps that I rock my younger (7 week old) to sleep. but the second I set her down to do anything or even just sit, she wakes up! there goes the double nap. so I'm either a slave to the couch with a sleeping baby (or walk around and do things with one arm) or I have to walk around and do things with one arm with an awake baby.

the heck, man. I can't complain too much because she's decent at not waking up between feeds at night. but I wouldn't mind some me time during the day!
