LO is 8 months and very rarely wakes up happy. Usually he's crying and it takes him a few minutes to snap out of it.

DS is 6 months and if he is ready to wake up he is always happy, we hear coos and babbling coming from his crib. If he wakes in the middle of the night & just needs to be resettled (not a feed) then he will grizzle but go straight back to sleep if we pat his back.

M wakes up happy if she wakes up past 7am and went to bed at her normal time. If she goes to bed late and wakes up before 7, she cries upon waking up.

You're not alone. LO ALWAYS wakes up screaming. In the crib (when I can get her down), in the ergo, in my arms, on the boob. LO is never happy to wake up.

She also screams when falling asleep if we're not nursing. She can be perfectly content in the stroller or ergo she will start moaning or screaming before she falls asleep. She just has to fight it.

She wakes up happy most days. But when we leave her in the crib cause she woke up early, she gets pissed after about 30 mins, but partially cause she is still tired. This morning was rough. Fat crocodile tears during her diaper change and getting her dressed.
Naps usually happy but tears when she wakes up and still tired but won't go back to sleep.

If he wakes up on his own, he's great. If I have to wake him up (for daycare), it's hit or miss

I'd say about 80% of the time he wakes up happy in the morning. This morning wasn't one of them. He tried to climb back into the crib to sleep more. He tried to climb up the changing table too. Usually, I can distract him enough to make getting ready enjoyable.

It's hit or miss for me. LO is 4.5 months old and as long as he sleeps well and for long enough he'll wake up happy, but sometimes for no reason he'll be fussy.

DS is almost 6 months and he always wakes up fussy/crying until I go in and pick him up. However, if I wake him up, 95% of the time, he'll wake up happy. I hope one day, he'll wake up happy most of the time.

I voted 2 options (it is available lol) because it is a hit or miss for us but he is usually happy. If he is not then I'd be scared because it usually means he might have caught a virus or something. But he is older now, almost 2. Back when he was a baby, he always woke up crying for milk.... but still, he tends to be on the happy side (or that's how I remembered...)

Hang in there, it is going to get brighter :)

Yeah, she wakes up happy mostly. If she isn't, then I know I've probably disturbed her during a sleep cycle, not realising she is about to go back to sleep!

I could've written your post about my DS when he was that age! It was no fun in the mornings. I want to say he grew out of it around 12-13 months, thank goodness! He is 15 months now and wakes up very happy most mornings!

Hang in there momma!!

DS is 13.5 months now and 90% of the time he wakes up happy. In the mornings, he's usually playing by himself.

However, this wasn't always the case. He's always been a sleeper (sttn 12+ hrs since 3 months), but there would be months here and there where he would wake up crying. It's just been in the last few months that he's consistently woken up in a "good mood." But, even before that, as soon as we got him- he was smiles.

I'm just curious. I don't feel like my LO is typical based on experience with other kids but I'm not sure. He is 10 months old and he NEVER, EVER, EVER wakes up happy. Not after a nap, in the morning, middle of the night, not if he wakes on his own or if I wake him. He ALWAYS wakes up screaming. Often he is happy a minute or so later, but never right away. He goes to sleep mad and wakes up mad. Sleep pretty much sucks in our house. :(
