Unfortantely she's used to it (and both poor tasting) she now knows at 9 months if she just swallows it it is over quickly. She gets 2 different medicine 2x a day. It sucks, but it keeps her tummy under control.

LO has always cooperated when taking Tylenol. Benadryl is another story though. He hates the taste and would scream bloody murder every time we had to give it to him. Fast forward a few months, and now LO will ask for it and drink it willingly. He understands that it provides him with itch relief, and he has gotten past the icky taste.

We give them medicine using a regular spoon and they love it. When one sees the other one takes it, she/he wants it even if not sick.

It depends on the medicine....

He takes Prevacid solutabs and we unfortunately think he thinks they are candy (we have NEVER actually used that word when referring to them. We always call it medicine, but he sometimes says "candy" or goes mhmmm). It is good in that he takes them so willingly, but bad because I don't want him to associate that term with any medicines. They really do taste like a strawberry candy though (I taste all his meds)!

ETA: @babynumber1: @Adira: What is it about the grape?! DS is the same way! He will more willingly take a medicine if it is dye free and grape flavored. Artificial grape...Bleh!

Xander's 4.5 months and he takes the grape flavored Tylenol just fine! Though over the weekend I tried to give him flavorless Tylenol and he just refused to swallow it. Oh well!

when he was on his reflux meds he took it great! practically would drink it from the dropper! then he got pretty sick when he was on augmentin(super bad diarrhea/upset stomach) and ever since then he will fight and scream and cry when he sees the dropper coming.

She hasn't had many meds so it's not too hard to trick her into thinking it's a special treat. The last time she had to have something was when she got hives, we noticed after bath and DH called the doctor when I was putting her to bed and they said to get benedryl, so he had to run out and get it. She was in bed but not asleep by the time he got back. She was so excited to see us come in the room and we told her that we had a special late night treat for her. She was excited to take it!

Yes. We started with medications at 7 days old for reflux. So he learned very quickly to take them. At his 6 week appointment when he got the oral vaccine they commented on how good he was taking it. Apparently most kids aren't that good.

Then again, dad takes a million meds for his condition and so it is kind of just part of life.

The only medicine my son will take without a fight is stuff from his nebulizer. If it is liquid medicine, it requires 2 adults and a syringe and a quick blow into his face to startle him.

Unfortunately he's had to learn to take it well due to necessity. He not only recognizes the bottles by now but calls them by name and will ask for them when he hurts.

E HATED taking medicine from the dropper. We would have to try to quick get the syringe in his mouth when he was crying and half the medicine went flying most times. Then I just started squirting the contents of the syringe onto a spoon and he happily takes it. Like he thinks he's getting a treat.

My 2-year old has recognized the Tylenol/Advil syringe-dropper thing and will fight/scream/wail if she sees it coming at her. Since Sunday night she's had a low-grade fever and DH and I have had to sneak it into her. We gave her undiluted juice laced with Tylenol and mango sorbet also laced with Tylenol. I feel so badly and sneaky for drugging her with medicine!

Does your child take to medicine well?
