I never had terrible PMS symptoms but second @oliviaoblivia: with my love for my IUD. No periods, no discernible cycle mood changes, etc.

With the iud the hormones from it work at a continuous rate so in my non-medical opinion it seems like it's the best option for regulating your hormonal fluctuations.

Birth control pills do not lessen pms symptoms for me. In fact, they made my cramping worse and also gave me longer periods. Hormonal birth control makes me a crazy hormonal person with wild mood swings. However, I do not think that's a typical reaction.

Mine definitely did while I was on it, although it was years ago now. I get ovulation symptoms too, so not ovulating was great. I was on the pill but once I'm done with kids, I'll probably try an IUD. I would love to not get periods at all.

I have the copper iud, so it's non hormonal. I do have some PMS symptoms that can be pretty pronounced but short lived (a day or two). I personally wouldn't want to go back on a hormonal BC for the fairly minor inconvenience.

Prior to getting on my BCP.. My period was heavy, but very regular every month on time. Fortunately I have never had experience menstrual cramps before. No cramps, no pain, I just bleed alot. No mood swing, no PMS symptoms for me, except sometimes my boobs hurt.

I didn't have sex until I was 29, (ridiculously late age I know, lol).. And age 29 was the first time I got on birth control (I take Birth control pills). I'm 31 now.

Back when I first got on my BCP, I keep get breakthough bleeding. My husband got worried because he see I bleed alot. I soak through the pads and get it on the bed sheet too.. It was flooding through clothes and flooding to the bedding. Bleed and passed Large clots. I had large lemon size blood clots. yes, it was that big clots.
He saw it all, red blood and black blood clots, he saw everything.. He wasn't gross out at all; he just worried because he saw me bleed so much.

I explained to him that the OB/GYN she said it nothing serious, said it my body was trying to adjust to the BCP pills. The hormones might not build up correctly in my body yet, so I probably will have breakthrough bleeding for couple months. And it will goes back to normal once my body get used to the pills hormones.

ugh.. and he saw my Always pads in the drawer almost run out. He went to the store and bought back home ALOT of Always pads for me, from regular to light, to overnight to heavy.. He knows I bleed alot so he bought alot of heavy pads, but then also bought alot of regular/light pads too.
It was ALOT of menstrual pads that he bring home, that was all he bought at the store.
I never ask him to go buy it, he voluntary go buy it out of his own willing. I thought that was very nice of him.. But he so corny, lol

I said to him that it embarassing, and asked if the store register cashier look at him funny because that he a guy but carried tons of menstrual pads to pay at the register.
I'm sure he probably got some funny looks from people at the store, because he bought alot--too many pads that he bring home.
He said he doesn't find it embarrassing at all. He said he have Nothing to be embarrassed about that he--a husband go bought menstrual pads for his 'wife'.

Well, now I'm used to the BCP. I don't get breakthough bledding anymore. And BCP does help make me my period lighter and shorter.
Now it 2016 and he still doesn't find it embarrassing. He still said if I need pads, he will go buy pads for me; and there nothing embarrassing about a husband go buy pads for his wife.
But Nope, I make sure I stock up extra pads; so it won't run out, so he doesn't have to go buy it. I don't want people at the store laugh at my husband, lol

I don't know which type of Birth control was Ms. OP on.. But have you try BCP before Ms. OP?
IF your body is okay with hormonal pills, then give it a try.. It does help regulate your period, helps make your period lighter. No heavy period anymore, No big size clots anymore. For me so far there No side-affects, just breakthrough bleeding at first. (I know different people body reacts differently to BCP, but Birth control pills works for me).

I have been off birth control for many, many years now. I have had really bad PMS symptoms for one day every single month. To the point where if it is a weekday, I have to leave work. I'm thinking of going back on birth control, if it will help. Obviously I will ask my doctor but, are you on BC? Does it help with your PMS symptoms?
